Jamie

It's busy, busy, busy here as I try and get everything together before our trip. My hope is to get my business all set in the next two days and then I can turn my attention to being sure I'm ready to go. Last night I was so tired I barely remember going to bed so I'm really being sure to be as ease-full and rest-full as I can (despite the huge to-do list) so I have energy for the adventure ahead.

Shannon

I totally forgot to take any pictures today, I didn't even get a chance to listen to any podcasts on my iPod (which I had just filled up!), but I did dive further into The Bell Jar which is this months selection for The Book to Film Club, and it's a good thing because we are 1/2 way through the month but I'm nowhere near halfway through the book (yet!).

I spent most of the afternoon trying to make petit fours with some cake decorating tools I am reviewing. I made the cake from scratch on Monday and it was still so moist, it just kept falling apart. I was in so much pain and I ended up only making six little cakes. I will never be a pastry "chef" and that is fine with me. I would much rather make food that rocks flavour-wise and I will leave the pretty food to my foodie pendants. Ugh!

Wow, I'm so behind for the Book to Film Club. I still have to finish Abraham Lincoln and then get started on The Bell Jar! I hope you're enjoying it, Shannon.

Ack, Suzie, that looks like so much work. It's too bad you weren't pleased with the results. I have to say when you were describing what you were making yesterday, I was ready to come over for tea! Well, I'm always ready to come over for tea. That's why I'm glad we have the Willow Tree!

I am so curious as to how you both are enjoying the Bell Jar. I could not read it, I tried. I can't wait to the Abraham Lincoln movie and that is a sentence I thought I would never write.

Jamie, I can imagine you must be feeling super overwhelmed. I hear ya on that exhaustion issue. I hope you got enough rest to tackle everything you need to do today.

Oh having you there for tea would have helped for sure Jamie! LOL. Part of the problem is the style of the decorations really isn't mine but in general, I just don't like working with cakes. Now I know, I probably won't ever, at least when it comes to decorating them!

You desk looks awesome Jamie! To me it looks very full but also very orderly and with lots of inspiration.

I totally thought petite fours were made with a more cookie like dough, Suzie - that the shapes were pre-cut and than baked like cookies. Might be thinking of something else thoughl

Wow Suzie, I'm very surprized that you couldn't read The Bell Jar - I'd love to hear more about it. So far I'm loving the fact I can tell the time period from the context and content, which is a weird thing to say. I still have a lot to read, but when I get to it I find I can take it as a brisk it's a very

I'm not sure of the traditional method Shannon. Some people made them with chiffon cake but I think a cookie dough sounds like a much smarter idea. I thought a pound cake would work but... Maybe if it were store-bought and stale, LOL.

I got the book out of the library a year ago but I just couldn't get into it. I think it was around there I decided to just put down fiction for now. It is an odd book which is why I wanted to read it. Oh some of your comment was cut off Shannon! Little bits at a time is probably a wise way to read it. I had to rush because it was a library book.

Wow, that's too funny ... I have no idea what else I was going to say!
