November 30, 2016

Jamie

Yesterday was an incredibly intense work day. I think the next 10 days are just going to be like that. I'm prepping for Planning Day, which is tomorrow. Plus I got stART done and the season finale for Creative Living with Jamie.

Shannon

'Tis the season! Clementines were not only at the store...they were on sale! I looooooove clementines. I will probably eat all of these before the week is out. I might even do a pic a day series to show their dwindling numbers :)

Suzie

Today sucked. Everything went wrong. This is my kitchen before 4 pm. Ugh. Totally sucked.

Jamie

I'm not sure what drew me out into the garden but once I was out there, I went back in to grab my camera. It's amazing to see the shapes that come to light at the end of the fall season. I loved these little starbursts in a cup :)

Shannon

This was the drawing that I shared during stART of Lucifer, I thought I would share here because my webcam seems to have that fuzzy "glow" look to it that is fine for me (makes me feel like I'm a guest start on the original Star Trek series), however it means when I share something it's not very crisp/clear. SO... here it is. I actually think it's pretty messy, but hey.. it was still fun to do!

Suzie

I made a soup after stART with portobellos mushrooms and here they are in my kitchen with the light on and it is still super dark. I am trying to figure out if there is a way for me to cook outside because it is just so ridiculously dark these days.

Shannon

Whelp, it took me a little while to get to it (a year.. or is it years?), but I finally watched all of Lost Girl. I had only missed the last half of the final season, but being the re-watcher that I am I started back at the beginning so it took quite a while. I have so many good memories of watching this show, it was one of the first ones that we talked about on Hexed! Although the earlier season were definitely my faves, it was nice to see where they took the story and how they finished up the series.

Suzie

The more I try and go out and do things the more disappointed I seem to get. CandyTown SUCKED and here I am cold and soaked to the bone after going downtown for a candy festival that had very little candy.

Suzie

So not only did I have one weird-ass fall yesterday, I got to the studio only to find out it would only be open for an hour. By the time I started to do some work, it was time to go. I managed to still get out to get takeout to enjoy the first Gilmore Girls special which was fun and just what I needed after a very frustrating day.

Shannon

I swear I'm not obsessed with squirrels. Okay, maybe just a little bit. Continuing to enjoy the Lynda Barry Daily Diary, and today I coloured mine in :)

Suzie

Went to the art studio's winter sale and about this sweet fairy from a friend. It was great to see so many people from the studio in one place, some I haven't seen since the last sale. It was a beautiful venue too. So glad I got to go.

Jamie

There has been such amazing progress with Escher this week! On Monday, he was sitting on my chair and when I went to sit down, he stayed! And then today, while I was working, I felt a cat jump up behind me and settle in. I assumed it was Scout or Shibumi but no, it was Escher! I could barely believe it. What a treat.

Shannon

I's been a week of a lot of filming and podcasting and all that good stuff! One of the things I am trying to do before the holidays come full swing is catch up on my book reviews for this year. I am still working on ones from stuff I finished reading in the summer, including this sucker! I was really glad to get the video filmed and felt really good about it. Maybe it needed to wait until now for it to happen. Fingers crossed the rest of them feel just as good. I am pre-filming some stuff to so I can share some content over time in a little more relaxed manner. This one should be going up next week.

Suzie

I managed to light a candle and do some yoga and try and find hope inside my heart that everything is going to be OK. The sun is down just after 4 pm these days. Lighting a candle is sometimes the best way to defend yourself against the dark. I have to keep reminding myself to do it. It really does help.

November 23, 2016

Jamie

Because the way my schedule worked out this week, I was able to start work on the final Journal Sampler class early. It's quite an experience looking over my Collage 365 journals and I sincerely hope people get a lot out of the practice. I even took some time to catch up on my current one! (I have to say, us getting together for stART and A&F on Mondays is really good for me!)

Shannon

I can't believe how much I love watching squirrels run up the trees to the roof. I missed it ALL summer long. Now the trees are bare enough that I get to see them run around all the time!

Suzie

It is officially cold and wet now (below 10C) and I went all the way to the market to get ingredients for some dishes and came home soaking wet and realized I was also out of skim milk powder which is not an easy ingredient to find. I probably have to go to the Superstore or the Bulk Barn to get it and now I can't use the ingredients I bought. I really have to get rain pants. This is getting ridiculous. Threw off my whole day and have been grumpy ever since.

November 22, 2016

Jamie

I just loved getting together for art and a movie. I mean, what a great way to wrap up a Monday! I am looking forward to doing more of this!

Shannon

Hanging out together watching The Breakfast Club was definitely the highlight of the day! So much fun to enjoy a movie together while we are creating :)

Suzie

It was awesome getting together today! I love that we're watching movies together. Totally rocks.

November 21, 2016

Shannon

I finished up the November Shakesalong by watching a film version of Much Ado About Nothing, and I went with the Joss Whedon version. As you can see, it's shot in black and white (in Joss's house no less), and there are many familiar faces from Buffy, Angel, Firefly, The Avengers and more. Actually, for me one of the joys of it was seeing an actor I've not seen since I watched Homicide: Life on the Streets. He was soooooo good in this, and I understood every word he said which is my test for if I think someone does a good job with Shakespeare. Great way to finish off this play. I wonder what will be the choice for next month.

Suzie

Finally, a good day! And I give credit to the power of pierogies. I had heard about this pierogi lunch and Reg and I went on such a dark and miserable day but when we went downstairs it was so warm and bustling with people enjoying good food, we were instantly feeling quite happy and as you can see, I wanted to eat everything on my plate. We also went to see Arrival which was fantastic.

November 19, 2016

Shannon

It was so nice to get out to the moooooooooooooooovies! It has been a while, I literally can't remember the last thing I saw! Well, before Doctor Strange that is! I really enjoyed it and it was great to see it in the big theatre too. Although I did have bizarre dreams last night and I think this was in part the culprit!

Suzie

I got to the studio but the energy was weird, probably because of the big sale next week. I just stayed long enough to try out some of the new glazes on some pendants I had ready to go and then came home.

Suzie

My only photo for the day. Talking with you Shannon was the best part of my day by FAR! Brutal, sucky, crappy day otherwise.

November 17, 2016

Shannon

Bit of a crazy day, but in a moment of down time I thought I would look up something I've been trying to figure out for ages: How to take a screenshot on my phone. First Google result nailed it (hold down power + volume down for a few seconds ... not sure if that's just my phone or a lot of phones), and voila! It worked! It's a PNG not a JPEG, but it still worked. Won't work for watching videos or with all apps, but I now at least know how to do it!

Suzie

Worked my butt off on another photoshoot on the deck! Will be posting my recipe for this panzanella (bread) salad tomorrow on my site. Didn't do much else since it was raining so hard and had things I had to do inside. Getting quite squirrel-y though being stuck inside and it is only November. Gotta get out of the house.

November 16, 2016

Jamie

Yesterday was a pretty intense day with some great stuff and some draining stuff. I had to go up to the doctors and it took even longer than usual and I also got some blood work. The beginning of the day was nice though. I met with Shannon and Kim and we got to work on the new season at the studio. And the end of the day was nice. Justin met up with me and we went for dinner at the Local and had a lovely meal and a lovely time. It was just what I needed. Plus I started and ended the day with a great view of the beautiful big moon!

Shannon

Early start today with some behind the scene-ing learning how to learn some techie stuff for The Studio :) Fun times!

Suzie

I wanted to share the geography of Vancouver with you two again. Here I am on Victoria Drive by the Value Village on the right facing south. Behind me is north where the mountains are which are covered in cloud and apparently it is snowing there. As you can see, when you face south away from the mountains, the farther you go the less cloud coverage you have. In our hood is a dark grey cloud but if you kept going south past the Fraser River in Richmond, it would be clear and sunny.

November 15, 2016

Shannon

Lots going on today, planning, mapping things out, hanging out during stART and I also started this months play for the Shakesalong: Much Ado About Nothing. This one I'm reading as well as listening to at the same time, and I think that might be the way to go with comedies. If I just read it, I would have had *no* idea it's a comedy.

Suzie

Damn super moon is making me so emotional and not able to sleep.

November 14, 2016

Jamie

Well, Sunday turned into a marvellous day! Shannon and I met up bright and early to get to the 50% off Value Village sale. You can see we were pretty successful :) I had some time to start my next junk journal and Justin and I went to see The Arrival, which we both thought was awesome. What a great way to wrap up the weekend, especially considering that I hadn't been feeling well and Justin's been really sick!

Shannon

I am always thankful when I can get out to the Value Village half off sale. Timing was perfect as I was struggling with my winter wardrobe, but now I think I'm pretty much set (and I don't think those bags are *all* mine ;).

Suzie

It was a struggle to figure out whether or not to go to Fan Expo this year and there was a ton of disappointment but there were some highlights. This Lucifer Q&A was awesome and I am so glad I was there to be a part of it.

November 12, 2016

Suzie

I spent the whole day working on this focaccia recipe by Anna Olson. Three risings! I barely got it done before the sun went down and I did not put enough salt in the recipe. Sigh... At least it's pretty!

November 11, 2016

Jamie

Wow, what a night! I am so glad that Shannon and I decided to brave it and go to see Loreena McKennitt at Massey Hall. It was magical - an evening of music, story and a really clear artistic perspective. Not only did I enjoy deeply the experience but it also gave me a lot to think about. Suzie, I wish you could have been there too!

Shannon

The day kind of snuck up on me and then arrived: The Loreena McKennitt concert! I think it's probably been 10 years since I've been to a concert. It was amazing. Some songs I knew by heart, others I was hearing for the first time, and she has great stories of adventures and misadventures throughout.

Suzie

You know you're depressed when you go to Michaels and don't see anything you want. That said, I feel a fire has been lit in me. I am going to get tougher about the energy I let in my life and that includes people and not tolerating things that upset me. It also means being more honest about how passionate I am about human rights and calling out injustices.

November 10, 2016

Jamie

I am so glad I had a chance to co-work with Tanya yesterday. Now, the truth is we didn't do much working! We chatted by the fire about politics, hope and doing the work we're meant to do in the world. All that and Snoopy kept  us - and the fire - company.

Shannon

I am simply amazed by the vibrant colours of the tree outside. Normally I don't think of this as a fall colour palette,.. but it's truly RIGHT THERE! Also, wasn't fast enough to get the squirrel running down the tree but I'm seeing them regularly these days which has been fun.

Suzie

Reg and Grace had their first open mic performance last night and it went really well.

November 9, 2016

Jamie

Yesterday I sat down to do my morning pages after going to the gym and look who kept me company - Shibumi! It was lovely until she saw a squirrel and with paws up on the sill, swish, swish, swish, I got her tail in my face. LOL!

Shannon

Not a lot of pictures today (amazing how much that can differ day to day), but I love this one of a 2-page prep for Journal Lab in Fauxbonichi week! I like doing 2 days at a time (especially because using stamps can be a bit mess and it's nice to have some dry-time for them), and then throughout the day I can decide what to fill in the rest of the page. I never quite know how it will turn out.

Suzie

We drove to the music store to get Reg a bday gift and I thought this was a good way to show you how you go north to reach downtown and then farther north are the mountains in Vancouver. Look how moody they look! This was the first sunny day in ages. A gift for Reg it seems.

November 8, 2016

Jamie

The highlight of the day was definitely filming our first go at Art & Netflix. What a learning experience! I am looking so forward to where this adventure leads. It was such a fun way to spend time together!

Shannon

It was such a full day and I remembered to take pics at different points, so I actually a fair amount to choose from! It was wild to take quite a long streetcar ride and to go by UofT which looks absolutely gorgeous this time of year. I even saw someone who looked like they just graduated (robes and hat and all!). And one bonus to streetcar over subway is that I could actually check and response to email, and browse Instagram. But most of the time I just stared out the window :)

Suzie

Dark and dreary... Hanging out with you two was definitely the highlight of my day! My birthday cheesecake for Reg blew up in my Instant Pot. Kind of symbolic.

November 7, 2016

Jamie

The big activity this weekend was heading up to Barrie to deliver a workshop on journaling for Threads of Life, an organization that supports people who have lost a loved one through a workplace accident. It is amazing that some people come year after year as a part of their healing and grieving. I am honoured to have spent some time with a lovely group and truly help that journaling will support them on the road ahead.

Shannon

I love when the light plays with shadows on the wall. I missed seeing the tree outside my window in this shape, I wonder if it's because I moved in in February but that is the way I feel like it's supposed to be!

Suzie

Another dreary weekend stuck at home. I figured out that to get food photos that have some light I had to take everything outside so I opened up our kitchen window, put the soup outside and all the stuff I needed which made photographing outside easier. At least I accomplished something and made this navy bean, kale and chorizo soup.
