It's been such a hard go lately that Justin recommended we go out to the movies. It meant braving leaving Jinx alone but she's been doing much better, able to walk around and get food, water and to the litter so we decided to head out. We joined a full house for The Wolverine. It was mostly good to just get out and lose ourselves in a movie for a while.

I've really been wanting to live normalcy right now (or as I really realized I am craving *routine*), and today my delightful normalcy included having a farmers lunch.  Oh my.  I have not done this for months, and I miss it. And I'm most definitely certain my body misses it too.  Here's to getting back to that.

It finally happened. Yes, I got Burn Notice Season 1. And, I bumped into a blog reader who was so sweet and gave me condolences about Mom. Which I have been very worried about, not wanting to cry in public. But it was OK and she was very sweet and kind. And I didn't cry. And then, Reg came home with the news. Which first made me sick and my knees shaky. With just getting back two weeks ago, this is all overwhelming but I tell you, to know that I will be in BC for my birthday... I am handling it all better than I thought. Yes, yesterday was a huge day. And now we can watch Burn Notice!!!

Well, the piano made it to our place! I still can't believe the young guys that showed up got this baby up, over and home. I'm so delighted it went smoothly but it (along with everything else) has thrown our house into disarray! We intend to get the piano moved to the kitchen but want to feel secure in our flooring first. Then we'll get it repaired (the missing leg, for example) and tuned. Suzie, I'll look forward to you playing Fur Elise and Shannon, Christmas carols!

Although this is technically a picture from last week, I wanted to keep it as today I finished off the yumminess of my Bday cake and Ice Cream.  YUM!

Suzie

During the week life is quite quiet but I went out and got some groceries and also this special Italian food edition of Cook's Illustrated, the best food mag out there for learning. Yesterday I finally woke up a little inspired about food. I love how they do so much recipe testing in this magazine so it was a bit of a treat for me. I was really getting worried that my fascination with food was waning.

The weather was so beautiful yesterday that Justin and I decided to get out for a walk. It's the first time we've been out together for a while because we've felt one of us needs to be with Jinx. She's doing a fair bit better though so that gave us a chance to stretch our legs and yes, continue to play with the new camera. I think it's going to be the purrfect cat cam!!

Shannon

Continuing on the path of trying to do some normal things, I was really happy to get back to reading last week and even finished up a book which is the final one of a series! I actually thought I had already finished the series last year but low and behold they added another book. Now I look forward to choosing what to read next.

Reg and I drove down the Bedford Highway yesterday to check out Taz Records' new location! So much closer to us than going downtown. Reg picked up some Bad Religion and The Allan Brothers Band and is going his best Warren impersonation in front of the store. It was nice to see the sun come out to!

At Mom's we got down to the very last thing: the piano. I had no thought whatsoever of trying to keep it. We don't play. Clearly it's broken. It requires special movers. And there are other worries besides. But then I touched the keys. And Shannon did too. We played around a little bit. Then I walked home and literally saw a truck for piano repairs/moves/tuning on my block. Pianos have been such a part of our lives. Just like the drums, for some reason I couldn't let this go. She'll be finding a new home in my kitchen next week. I still can't quite believe it.

Jamie

This week our world has been Jinx. I spent every night sleeping on the couch so that I could be right beside her and support her when she needs it. In many ways, she's been getting better. She's eating, drinking, moving around a bit, even finding a couple of her favourite spots to curl up in. But she's also trembling and has such a hard time getting up, turning over and moving her legs. We're enjoying every moment we can with her and watching her closely to make sure she's not in any pain or distress. She's been my little Jinx since Shannon pointed her out at the Humane Society 18 years ago. I love her so much. It's going to be unbearable to say goodbye.

Although I'm working on getting back to normal, or rediscovering normal, or figuring out if there isn't even a normal. But what felt pretty normal and really awesome recently was getting to actually make vegetables on my own stove and eat them. Might be a small thing, but it's been months since I've done that. Those brussel sprouts were amazing, and I hope for more.

I have been holding on for some help. Waiting for library books and to see my doctor on Thursday. Turns out the books I got are very religious (which was so offensive), I got poured on in the rain (note wet pants), had to put hiking boots on my very burned feet and go to the doctor. Who cancelled on me suddenly. I consider her my only confidante here and had a total temper freak out in the washroom. I may have broken something.

I went back and spoke with another doctor to get meds but I really wanted to start a plan on making sure my medical info is up to date, getting tests done of me and my concerns about cancer. And just to say to someone, I need help.

Oh well. Bought some "light brown" hair dye instead. Hair therapy on Friday instead.

Jamie

Well, it's a pretty random day to jump in and start reposting but heck, why not? Especially since I just got my new camera - yay!! Suzie, I hope you don't mind me copying you when it came to my choice but your photos really inspired me when you were here, especially that zoom! Now, I do have to learn to use it but it felt more intuitive than I expected and I had a lot of fun taking it out yesterday and exploring the neighbourhood. Of course, that fun was augmented because it was my first time outside in days! I've been so focused on taking care of Jinx I've barely left her side!
