Shannon

I mostly had to rest today, but one of the few times I wasn't I was looking into and trying some possible book binding techniques for junk journalling. I actually really enjoy threading and trying out different ways because it's often like following a pattern! Fun times.

Suzie

We FINALLY got to the grocery store! See the Triscuits Shannon? I was so excited when I found them another customer picked up a box once I told him how good they are, LOL. We got Halloween candy but no pumpkins! Once we have our pumpkins I will breathe easier about Halloween. At least we have real food and candy now. What a relief.

I was having a hankering for list compiling yesterday, and I found this awesome list of 100 Canadian Novels, however I had already compiled it as it was already on my spreadsheet. I was glad I noticed before writing it all out again. One good thing though was that since then, I've read twice the number of Canadian titles! I'm only at 10/100, but it's better than 5%.

Suzie

After getting a chill yesterday and having another day of constant rain I decided to stay in today and rest. I started coughing again and really did not want to end up with bronchitis. I also decided to make some spooky cookies and look, here is one on a plate with the same skull design! Although without the three colours, the cookie looks more like a giant guitar pick than it does candy corn but what can you do?

Suzie

The hunt for groceries continues (I have never wanted to get to a grocery store more in my life) on my back and I got caught out in the rain and it has been so dark and dreary. I still have a bit of a chill but this moment when the sun came out for a second was such a nice reprieve. It is going to be one long winter...

Jamie

Yesterday I was shocked when I looked out the window and I saw a bulb on our deck! Clearly an animal left it here. I'm imagining a raccoon because this is pretty big for a squirrel. I assumed it had been dug up from our garden and planted it immediately. Then I noticed there really wasn't any visible signs of disruption anywhere. I'm wondering if this is actually a neighbour's bulb! I guess I will found out when it grows next spring!

Shannon

MONDAYS! I was happy to sit down and do some planning this... ah, I was going to say morning, but let's just go with "as the day began". I've been off this habit for a long time now, but got back to it last week and it felt so good. Here's to another productive week ahead!

Suzie

When life gets hard, bake cookies. And then eat said cookies. A lot.

Jamie

Every time we have Art Day I appreciate it so much. This week we worked on Junk Journals using pages from the books we picked up at the Value Village sale, plus calendar and magazine pages. I'm so looking forward to binding it and discovering what to do with it!

Shannon

Art Day Junk Journal goodness! It was so much fun to put the pages from the books from VV together as the journal starts to form. Still needs a little work and some binding, but it is coming along nicely.

Suzie

Got out to see Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children which was good but overall, rough weekend.

Jamie

After working out and finishing my newsletter, Justin and I went out and about for some errands. This was the only picture I took, which is too bad because it's of these mats I thought would work just great for our boots and such but wow they turned out to be very disappointing. We did succeed at getting a doormat and a new front hall mat, which is a bit too small but will do the trick for now. It was good to get out for a big long walk and to tick of some to-dos that had been waiting for attention.

Journal Club has a certain magic mojo. It amazes and delights me every week. This week one real treat was that I had ordered a couple of candles on a friend's recommendation and they arrived. Wow, beautiful! The scent is pure and lovely and the quality a delight. It was such a joy to light Harvest Moon for the club circle. Plus they sent me a little sample of a body butter that I just can't resist! I think I'll be buying more from Wick Witch!

Suzie

Another rest day. I had some leftover soup that I had made. I simplified my super immunity soup to be focused on the shiitake mushrooms and added watercress to it instead of spinach. The buckwheat soba noodles were also a good addition. Foodie post to come on my blog when I am feeling better.

October 21, 2016

Jamie

Yesterday was 100% focused on the Journal Club sampler class that is starting this weekend. I had an amazing time preparing the class. I just felt drawn into a whole other world - a world of cozy blankets, lit candles and writing in journals while curled up in cozy spots. It made my attitude towards a cool, dark and rainy day turn right around!

Shannon

I was really excited to re-read Macbeth this week, as someone on YouTube is hosting a "Shakesalong" Shakespeare readathon, and this was the play they picked. I actually reread it fairly recently (last year), in anticipation of the "new" film, but then I never got around to watching the new version because it came out later than expected. All that said, this re-read was awesome, I really understood the story and characters and look forward to watching the new version (there is also a version with Patrick Stewart ...woohoo! Might have to work that in too.).

Suzie

Thursday I could not do anything but rest or watch Vampire Diaries and I tried to get a screen capture but look! They don't show up on screen capture, LOL. Ugh, so tired. But at least I finally got some rest but I had to cancel going to help out at class which sucks.

Jamie

It was an amazing day yesterday and so even though I was busy I took some time in the middle of the afternoon to get into the garden and plant some bulbs. I had a wonderful time and the most amazing thing happened. This little bird was chirping just over my head, over and over, and so, of course, I started talking to her. After we had talked for a while, her chirps changed into a beautiful song. I mean, it was entirely different from how she had been chatting before. It's like she thought I understood her and so she talked to me in her real language. It was absolutely magical. I wish I had caught that new song on video. Then again, maybe it was for the two of us. (PS I really should write kids stories!)

Shannon

It was a bit of an odd day. Late start and a little messy, just like my table. How did that happen??

Suzie

I am still waiting for that day I can just hangout at home and relax. Wednesday I went out to VV for some pants, stopped by the market for some food, made a pretty kick-butt blue cheese dressing for that stunning heirloom tomato and went to a meeting at the studio. Now I am binging on Vampire Diaries and feeling homesick.

October 19, 2016

Jamie

It feels like a time full of fresh starts and transformation. Justin and I are really working at the Gym Challenge and actually loved the taco lettuce wraps we had tonight - yum! I'm feeling very committed to my morning workouts - even if this is the kind of view I have for my walk over. I will take this to mean that my workouts are blessed by the moon.

Shannon

It's a little star day! And by that I mean I got a little exercise in, and that counts too. I'm slowing easing back into things but I can feel that I gotta remember to rest. And to move. And to rest again. Here's hoping for a smooth transition back to whatever normal is these days.

Suzie

I got out to the market to pick up some meat, cheese, sour cream... It is now officially the dark season of BC but at least there are still some bright leaves on the trees. I did not miss all of autumn on the west coast.

October 18, 2016

Jamie

What a day it was yesterday! So moody. It's like Toronto was saying goodbye to Suzie! While Toronto gently weeps...

Shannon

It was a little weird to have a "regular" day today. For me, it was mostly resting but I also did some art switcharoo-ing with taking down my R-Red-Ruler drawings and putting up some T-Try-Tape-Trees paintings that we all did together on Art Day! Miss hanging out all together already.

Suzie

While we were out today we stopped by my favourite farmers' market and picked up my first heirloom tomato! So tired though. Having a hard time adjusting. Wish I could just stay in bed for a few days.

October 17, 2016

Jamie

What a wonderful visit we've had! I'm so glad that Suzie stayed another day and we had the opportunity to sneak in one more great adventure together. I think that golden glow is coming more from our hearts than from the setting sun! I loved every minute of this great time together..

Shannon

I can't believe Suzie's visit has already come and gone! So many new memories and fun times together, I'm so glad we could all hang out, catch up, have talks and drink teas and of course work in lots of shofting!
