I pretty much didn't go anywhere over the weekend at all so I kept myself busy (and sane) listening to Kate Bush and making jewelry. I burst into tears when I heard Cloudbusting though. "Oh, god, Daddy. I won't forget," totally did it. I am so looking forward to visiting with family. I still can't believe it's going to happen.

"But just saying it could even make it happen..."

Jamie

Yesterday I was out and about doing errands and prep for our grand adventure. One of the things I did was get my haircut. Oh, it is good to feel like me again. Yes, it's nice to make a change but sometimes you just want to come home.

Suzie

Spent all afternoon on the wheel and this is my third goblet! I didn't even realize I could make something else, LOL. A woman made these beautiful bowls and I was like... Doh! I was working so hard at perfecting the technique. Ah well. It was awesome.

Jamie

Recently I stumbled across a treat that I had never heard of before: a Dutch baby! The recipe was incredibly simple and incredibly familiar and so last night Justin and I gave it a try. It takes no time at all and is delicious - a cross between a pancake, a beaver tail and a Yorkshire pudding! (Most like a  Yorkshire pudding - but dessert!) We were testing it out for a special occasion so won't be sharing it anywhere else for a few days. This is the recipe we used. And no, this is not low fat ;)

Shannon

Busy Day! Lots of planning and prepping and computering today, but was happy to knock off one of the challenges for the super chill readathon I'm doing this week by reading a graphic novel (okay, this is a comic...which is a lot shorter... but I'm counting it!). Yes, it's Hrolf Kraki and His Champions! A famous tale... we'll all heard it, right? Right? Okay, maybe not but it was still a lot of fun, although quite brutal and oddly sparse story telling.

Suzie

I had my first clay extruder class and it was quite fascinating. It is a two-person job to put that clay through that monstrous press but look! It make the walls of this casserole dish and I used the soap dish one for putting chopsticks on! Took all my energy though. Totally baked by the end of that class.

It was an out and about and erranding day for me. And boy was I tired when I got home! It was exciting to see the store has gotten pumpkins, although it does feel a tad early for that. But still...pumpkins!

Suzie

This is pretty much my only day with nothing planned so I got out for groceries, vacuumed the floors, sanded pendants, finished others, then photographed them and... made a healthier Instant Pot version of my favourite soup. Now? Sore and resting.

Summer TV Finale Week is underway! I watched another season of American Ninja Warrior and I *finally* figured out how people win the show! Only took 2+ seasons to work that out. It is a fun, and pretty inspiring, summer show.

Suzie

Big highlight was getting good news from the doc and then selling earrings to a friend. Then I walked home and caught a bit of a chill, things have really cooled down here. Rested for most of the day which is frustrating because I want to get things ready for Etsy for the first day of fall on Friday.

Reg and I got our to an Italian restaurant Saturday night and then went to The Fringe Festival for a play and even had pierogies at Granville Island Market afterwards. Despite it getting very cold, rainy and crappy, we made the most of our wedding anniversary weekend.

September 15, 2017

Jamie

Yesterday was a very busy day. I worked throughout, went to the dental hygienist and then met Justin downtown so that we could do some clothes shopping. We both still need some things for the trip!

Shannon

It was an errands day, which always turns into a rest day, but I was okay with that today as I was completely mesmerized by a creepy book I had just started called I'm Thinking of Ending Things. It was a short one, and I just hunkered down and burned through the rest of the book. I would love to recommend it, because it's intriguing, insightful and smart but on the other hand... totally creepy!! I couldn't read it at night, and I certainly hope I can sleep tonight! Plus a bonus: Canadian Author!

Suzie

I did it! I got on the pottery wheel today and it was so exciting. I really feel like 1) I have no idea what I am doing 2) that it feels oddly intuitive 3) I really don't know what I am doing but it was OK that I didn't. I was so caught up in it that I didn't realize the pain I was in. It kicked in later which is just fine. For me that's normal. I was so scared it would hurt so badly while I was doing it that I couldn't do it at all but not the first time at least. It's so amazing to sit and listen to the whirl of the wheel and use your body to press down on the clay and because I'm not strong it happens so slowly and subtly... Pure magic. I can't wait to do more!

It was awesome to get back to choir this week, especially with September by Earth, Wind & Fire being our song. Man, I love that song! You just have to smile and groove as you're singing along. Plus what a lovely way to return - two members created 2 banners for choir, one for Tuesday night and one for Wednesday. What a great new energy those colours bring!

Shannon

I totally was NOT going to do a readathon this month, until I came across one that is absolutely perfect... read 10 pages a day. Finish 1 book. I think I can manage that. I might even unwrap the smallest book on my shelf just for this!

Suzie

CRAP day.

Jamie

Yesterday I had a great time recording a new Wisdom Core conversation with my friend Kim. I am so lucky to have such awesome women in my life - like you two!

Shannon

You just never know what you are going to see while out and about!

Suzie

I helped my friend get the last of her social media platforms set up and then I packaged up the mermaid pendants I sold before resting. Then I made dinner and thank goodness for the Instant Pot to make black beans super fast. A pretty productive day.

Jamie

It's a little weird looking out your windo wand seeing a guy climbing a tree. Even weirder when you notice the chainsaw!  I'm so glad that they finished before we filmed stART. It was awesome to hang out with you both - and in the aftertime too. ((hugs))

Suzie

Wow! Not only did I have a fantastic time talking to you two today I sold THREE of my mermaid pendants! Totally blown away. A friend also got tickets for us to the Buffy musical singalong and now I can actually pay for those tickets myself. I haven't had a day this good in a while. I'm totally letting myself enjoy it. *happy dance*

Jamie

What an adventurous Sunday we had! Justin and I signed up for a trip up to the Clairville Ranch for some horseback riding. I haven't been on a horse since I was 16 yearss old. It was the perfect day, as you can see by that blue sky. We did an hour of writing, had a meal over an open fire and then rode for an hour again. I traveled on a horse named Karma and it was quite a treat!

Shannon

Errands day for me! Got out and got some shoes, hopefully these ones will work well for the trip and events. So much still to do, but it feels good to knock something off my list!

Suzie

It was a mostly stay at home weekend but we did get out to Bulk Barn so I could finally get vanilla extract at a decent price and stock up on nuts and chocolate. All so expensive but definitely cheaper at BB than anywhere else.

September 9, 2017

Jamie

Yesterday was a kick-ass day! In the morning I got out for an early breakfast meeting with two dear friends and in the afternoon Shannon and I made it out to the secondhand book store at the reference library. What a treat!

Shannon

It was soooooooooooooooooooo exciting to get out to the library book store with Jamie today! Got a big stack of awesome treasures and I am already looking forward to reading them, and coming back to the bookstore! I can't believe we've never been before! Can't wait to do a haul video and...plan the next trip to the store!

Suzie

My plans with a friend got cancelled so I finished up the Etsy store to prep for the sale on Monday and baked a poppy seed loaf. We also just made it in time to see Run Lola Run at the late night showing after Reg got home from shooting.

Jamie

The bright spot of the day was being in the spotlight with my dear friend Tanya. We had a great chat about The Imposter Complex and podcasting. It is always great fun to chat with Tanya and it was particularly so on her new podcast!

\
Shannon

It was awesome to hear Jamie & Tanya chat all about podcasting and share their wisdom on the medium as well as staying true to the self, and staying on course. Fun times!

I had very little energy today but did manage to get to the pottery studio to help with a big clean up. I came home and rested but then discovered that this photograph was chosen to be in the Flickr group "in explore" which only accepts photos that they request to be part of the group. Last time this helped my hits in a huge way with my waffled tuna melt. Other than that, a very uneventful day. I needed the rest.

September 7, 2017

Jamie

After a long hiatus, Tanya and I were back to co-working yesterday and it was awesome. So much feels like it is changing for me and it is great to have some friend time to talk things through! I was also going to have some awesome sister time with Suzie yesterday but unfortunately started feeling really rotten in the afternoon :( I hope we can get something on the calendar soon, Suzie!

Shannon

Had a day of a little-bit-of-evertyhing, including cleaning my desk where I found these little watercolour abstracts sitting in a pile. I think they are much bettwer suited to being on display.

Cookbook Review: FEAST - Recipes & Stories from a Canadian Road Trip

I started off feeling pretty OK and even did an at-home workout but then as I started writing my Feast cookbook review I started to feel kind of crummy and not just because I ended up being totally disappointed in the book. I think I have been too busy and it has been too hot and smoky. Pushed myself too far and now I don't want to do anything. Ugh.

September 6, 2017

Shannon

Weather: 1 , Shannon: 0. It's rare that I don't check the weather before heading out, but it's been so nice lately I didn't bother. And I totally got stuck in the rain! Huge downpour this afternoon and I got caught in it, but thankfully I was able to seek reprieve under business tower awnings for the worst of it, and hopped from awning to awning until finally braved the open air and getting into the subway. What a day.

Suzie

Spent a lot of the day resting but when I had some energy I worked on my Etsy store. Almost ready for the launch. We also had a weird day here. I woke up not being able to hear out of my right ear very well and then the smoke from fires from the U.S. totally encased Vancouver. It even got super dark because it was so thick. Was a good day to stay inside and rest.

Jamie

We had a bit of a rough weekend but yesterday was a bit better and quite gentle. We spent most of it doing some chores and also working on our project to get more of our art framed and put up. We measured everything and got that into a document on our phones so that we can pick up anything whenever we get the chance. It was interesting to see how much we have. I'm going to have to get some art with guys in it. Most things I referred to as Girl with Feather, Girl with Horse, Girl by the Ocean, LOL.

Shannon

Even though today was a holiday, it was actually a pretty regular Monday for me. Which is cool...I actually like Mondays. One thing I do on Mondays is: PLAN! Shocking, I know. This was me planning my reading for the week, I have been in the middle of tons of books recently but have made lots of progress on FINISHING stuff which makes it feel easier to start new books...like Jason's! I hope to start it sometime this week.

Went to the PNE on Labour Day which I think was also the hottest day of the year. When Reg complains about the heat, you know it's bad. Still, I am glad we managed to fit it in and look at that couple holding hands on the swing ride! I had no idea that was happening when I took this photo. So cute. It was awesome but rest day ahead. OMG... So tired and hot!

Shannon

I have a fun time stopping by next door chatting with folks, enjoying BBQ (on an open fire pit!) and even roasting marshmellow -- which is what this picture is trying to capture!

Suzie

Was so exciting getting to go to weirdo place Harrison Hot Springs where Sasquatch lives. Didn't have time to go hiking but we walked along the beach and had ice cream. Most epic drive out there. Long but totally worth it until Sasquatch ran us out of town!!!

Shannon

It's hard to believe it's September! But with it being September, I realized it was time to do my seasonal TV Grids to figure out what I want to watch this season! I wonder if I will jump ship on series (either on new ones or off old ones) depending on when they air. At least this year there is a 4-way conflict Wednesday at 8pm. And yes, I still remember things like that lol!

Suzie

Got so little sleep the night before it wasn't safe to do much exercise so I just walked over to the clinic for a walk-in-x-ray... I couldn't believe it. I was out my door and back in 20 minutes. I'm going to miss the convenience of this neighbourhood so much. Rest of the day was mostly a write-off. I did some photo editing and got my official foodie bucket Pad Thai post done. I guess that's something.
