Shannon

I did not take a lot of pictures today (holiday laxing most of the day!), but I did work on planning my reading. I've pulled a lot of titles from my TBR Jar and I gotta get to *reading* them. I'm most leery of The Stand... it's over 1,400 pages long! But it's been a while since I've read a really long book, maybe it will be my book of the summer. The Summer of The Stand! I hope I like it!

Suzie

Reg was working most of the long weekend so I had a ton of time on my hands. Good thing that the sun came back and brought my inspiration. Got to Michaels for some supplies and got working on my jewelry. Hope to start making a little money soon.

Suzie

The studio wants potters to have their own little houses for the summer sale so I made a distinctly Suzie the Foodie one today. I also baked a pie and saw Colossal which was FANTASTIC! I have not enjoyed a movie that much in a long time and it was Reg's big screen debut.

Jamie

Well, yesterday was a big day - the return of the podcast! We have worked so hard behind the scenes to shine it up. We've got a new podcast host which is making a huge difference in everything from sound quality to process ease. We've got a new look too. Hopefully this will all help the show reach and inspire more people more often. Special thanks to Shannon for helping make it go, including a few wonderful meetings yesterday. I worked as long as I could on this and other things and then Justin and I went out for dinner, which was just what I needed! Celebration ftw.

Shannon

I didn't take that many pictures today, really tucked into things and then kinda crashed. The heat has arrived in Toronto, and didn't even break for "warm" and went straight to hot. That said, it was awesome to feel all the sunshine and open all the windows, that I can handle!

Suzie

Went for a seriously long walk to a health food store that was sort of in my neighbourhood (the total limit to how far I can walk) and it's too funny, I ended up buying shortening! Well at least it wasn't lard, which they didn't have. But what a meat section! I came home, rested and then decided to hand paint my ceramic pendants with acrylic paint so now you can kind of see them. I am adding embossing powder to some of them too and charms... I feel like I am finally waking up creatively. I even watched the video for the embroidery machine which was not helpful in the slightest but one step closer to starting that too. Busy but creative and productive day!

Jamie

Yesterday was a very demanding day. There was so much to do that I cancelled co-working. When we do that, Tanya and I usually catch up on the phone for an hour but she suggested we do that while on a walk - perfect! It was so good to get out and enjoy the neighbourhood. What a perfect break amidst a very intense day of work.

Shannon

The treat of the day was definitely hanging out with Ella next door, she has such a nice energy and it was fun to play catch for a bit and to gave out to window too. Nice to have some calm in the middle of the day.

Suzie

Getting out for a couple of items at the market gave me the opportunity to see some amazingly huge and wonderful blossoms out there. Did not get much else done. Too tired.

Jamie

It was so great to get a chance to hang out with both of you yesterday. What a rich day! Tuesdays I go to art class and every time I am amazed by all the beauty, including on these work tables. I think this is an awesome abstract painting. Maybe I would tweak the contrast a little but but then I would totally frame it!

Shannon

Here's a pic of one of the replications I was sharing on stART. I should have taken more pictures! But I think this was the point where I felt like I could see it was actually working. Thank you both so much for sharing how much you enjoyed my work when we were chatting on stART, I really appreciate it!

Suzie

Thanks for listening today. Just wanted to share my favourite piece from the studio. Spent the rest of the day doing laundry and resting.

Shannon

I'm having a lot of fun reading the Grimm's Fairy Tales. I love how short they are, so it's easy to fit one in while I'm making a cup of tea. They also often end really abruptly, which makes me laugh and is a good reminder that stories can be told in so many different ways.

Suzie

If I shared the photo I took of my class today I wouldn't have anything to share for stART so here is where Lucifer is paused right now as I wait for Reg to be able to come back and finishing watching it.

Jamie

It was awesome to get out to see Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday! After a bit of an unsure start, I absolutely loved it. Plus, I got to play Timeplay - and WIN! Well, I was the only one playing, which made it particularly easy to guess what the majority would think!

Shannon

Without question, the most fun this weekend was seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 with Jamie and Justin. It was so much fun! It had been a while since getting out to the movies, so it was great to see it on the big screen and have a blast of a time. Woohoo!

Suzie

I envy you all seeing Guardians! Our friend couldn't come out with us so we went to see King Arthur instead. Big mistake. Now, it had some amazing visual moments but bastardized the story of King Arthur in ways I don't think Reg will ever recover from. Sucks because it's the only thing we have done in a while and costed a small fortune. Awful.

Suzie

I got to the studio to do some pendant-making and hang out for a bit. I was too tired to exercise though and it got cold and rainy again.

Shannon

It's amazing how you can see the same sky every night, yet it never looks the same.

Suzie

Despite being up most of the night with the stomach flu, I finally had a day to go out for a long walk and of course it was torrential rain. I got to the store OK and picked up some supplies (forgot eggs and butter damn it!) but on the way home, totally drenched. The Weather Network said light rain... I rested but also got a lot of chores done too, not sure how I managed that.

Jamie

Yesterday was an incredibly busy day and I was so tired that I almost didn't go to choir but I'm so glad I did. There's just something enlivening about going and singing together. Lats night was Hooked on a Feeling and I was in the oo-gah-chuck-ah crowd. It will take a while to get that out of my head! It was great hanging out with you guys yesterday afternoon too. I'm glad we got to not only watch the documentary but talk through it too!

Shannon

I'm having fun reading an illustrated edition of Grimm's Fairy Tales, and the one I read today was pretty awesome and followed a bunch of animals who basically decided to quite their day jobs and become the town musicians (although they ended up stealing people's dinner instead). So far, it is the one that made the least sense but it was still very entertaining!

Suzie

Hanging out with you two was definitely the highlight. I think I'm coming down with the stomach flu and really not feeling super great. Got the mushrooms and then my calzones totally fell apart and I made KD for dinner which I hardly ate. Blech.

May 10, 2014

Jamie

I am having such a great time at collage class. These are student works from our recovered paintings and faces projects. Aren't they wild? Mine are the 2nd and 3rd from the right. I feel really at home in these classes and hope to take many more. The school is moving though - to another great location but one that's much less convenient for me. That won't be for a year though so for now, I'm simply enjoying!

Shannon

I had a bit of a rough day, had to cancel plans and even had a hard time focusing while reading (yikes). Thankfully, by evening things seemed to have settled a bit, It is hard not to get mad when I'm having a rougher day, but I am really trying to not hold on to it and just accept it. It's not easy, but it help me a lot to let it go.

Suzie

Started the day off strong with getting out to vote, picking up prescriptions... Did light weights, got laundry done and then BAM! Big headache, cough and feeling like crap. I know I did way too much yesterday and totally paying the price today. I still managed to get some product testing in.

May 9, 2017

Jamie

I had a busy day yesterday, including hosting a Facebook Live, which was tons of fun, but I still managed to work in a little creative time. Shannon and I had such fun doing these wonderfully random pages that I wanted to do some more. This time I made a couple of pages in my journal. It's very calming in the midst of busy!

Shannon

I've been trying to shift of some of the ways that I spend my time, and as such today I watched some drawing and art tutorial vids on YouTube and it was really cool to see some of the advice out there!

Suzie

I was so excited to get my artist palette in class today! And I even USED it! I snuck this photo during the demo when people were away from their seats. Class went way better than I was expecting and I even got to go to lunch with a friend from pretty far away who was in town for the afternoon. A little too much for me, didn't sleep the night before as a result, but I am glad things turned out the way they did. Had an excellent day despite not getting any sleep. The teacher even said I was a good student. ME!!! A good student. OMG... Wow, talk about healing. It meant so much.

Jamie

It was so nice to get back to Art Day this week. We had a bit of a slow start but eventually landed in a world of fun - which seems inevitable when you see this look on Shannon's face :)

Shannon

It was so awesome to have Art Day with Jamie! I had really missed it, and it was so much fun to get together and make stuff!!

Suzie

Had a rough day trying to find hiking boots I could afford and ended up giving up for now. Took a break at a Starbucks during their "Happy Hour" were frappes are half price. Not a lot of happy faces in the super long lineups for people's drinks.

May 7, 2017

Shannon

After having so much fun in the past few weeks sharing what I've been watching, I ended up hitting a bit of rut with it and not making it past one film. But I did see a crazy film that had an intermission in it, love songs with relationship montages, a possessed husband and a jilted ex. Maybe it's enough that I saw it and I don't have to share all of them.

Suzie

I have gotten quite busy during the week so I am spending the time I have alone on the weekends to get more exercise in. Today I got all the way to Central Park (the one in Burnaby not NYC) and on the way back I saw this tree that had blossoms on the underside of the branches. I had never seen anything quite like it. It was a huge deal to get all the way to the park and back. Sadly bratty kids where there screaming and throwing stones at fish and ducks and the parents did nothing to stop them from turning into psychopaths. I didn't stay long but I apologized to the trees for stupid humans.

Jamie

It was so great to get together with some of the beta team to chat about the yearbook and how they're finding it. They gave me lots of good feedback and I feel really excited about braving the next steps!

Suzie

I FINALLY get a day at the studio and they close half an hour after I got there! I spent the rest of the day being productive doing two blog posts because suddenly I am quite busy next week. Although what to do tomorrow...???

Jamie

I just had to laugh when I saw this squirrel looking like he was hanging in the balance - LOL! Gosh, it is nice to have my trip to the gym be in the sunlight! Plus, with the arrival of spring, this is a magical time for hearing the birds and seeing the squirrels. There are so few humans and it is still so quiet. It must be their very favourite time of day.

Shannon

One of the things I really enjoy doing on my Friday Reads videos is choosing the next book to read from the TBR Jar (I pull one every time I finish a physical copy of a book I own). This week, I had to draw two titles! It's an exciting way to take the pressure off deciding what to pick next!

Suzie

I had been looking forward to going to a brand new eclairs shop all week and it finally happened! A friend took me down and we had SIX eclairs! OMG! They weren't big but... wow. I skipped lunch to make up for it. It was fascinating to see which ones we liked, which ones we didn't like and what was meh. It's so weird because all of a sudden it was hot today and so sunny. Tonight we had a small thunderstorm which is rare here and feels like energy is finally shifting. I can live with that! Bring on the sweet stuff.

May 4, 2017

Jamie

This month my friend Tanya and I are embarking on a new adventure. We are being one another's early morning accountability buddy. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday we check in to say we are writing at 6:00 am. And on Tuesdays and Thursdays we check in about the gym. Yesterday it was a bit tough to get up and sit down to write but I did it and I am so glad. I'm sticking with it!

Shannon

I had a mostly errands day which means no many photos, but I did snap this one of two plays that I've never seen in physical form before. I am about at the halfway point of reading all of Shakespeare's plays, and these are two I still have to read, but sadly they didn't quite pass the dust test. Ah, well! Good thing I have a complete works edition for the harder to find ones. Still, it was cool to see them!

Suzie

Spent WAY too much time on the computer working on my foodie bucket list post and then my bagels post. In between those two I did get out for a walk to go to the bank and the market when I saw this sign. I always think of you when I see mint Shannon! Starting tomorrow I think their frappes are going to be half price in the late afternoon. Maybe I will try one as a treat.

Jamie

A very creative day yesterday! I was up early and off to the gym and then to art class and then to stART! Though I am rather tired, especially coming off of the big studio launch, but still it is rather wonderful. We also brought Shibumi home, after a night at the vet. We are waiting for some test results and, in the meantime, she has some meds and it is very good to have her home. It is amazing how these three have become a part of our family.

Shannon

I flitted from one thing to another today, but barely took any pictures! Here's an early in the day shot from doing my morning pages.

Suzie

stART was awesome! Big highlight of my day and so was the hike although going after eating all those pickles (yes, I had more, Reg didn't like them). My tummy was all, what are you doing to me? Then I got so thirsty but it was worth it. And check out this photo! I took it with non-fancy cam and am thrilled with how it turned out. That's a magnolia petal that is hovering inside a tree stump. I took this at the golf course we hike around. I wanted to go to the restaurant for a bottle of water but it was closed which I guess it OK because of this photo. Wow! It has been a while since I took a photo of something other than food that made me happy.

Shannon

New month, new BOOKS to read! Well, mostly new to read book, I'm carrying over some from April that I didn't finish. I don't actually expect to read all of these (although that would be cool), but I figure I might as well aim high and see where I land. Wish me luck!

Suzie

It was one heck of a rainy day so I did some bellydancing at home and then worked typing up my extremely LONG foodie bucket list. It is helping me be inspired and focused, especially now that I have accomplished one of the items on the list. BAGELS!!!

May 1, 2017

Shannon

As the Spring into Horror readathon comes to a close, I finally start finishing some books. I think with it being a genre I don't read that often, what I felt like reading was harder to hone in on so I had lots of false starts and put down a lot and didn't get to a lot. That said, one that I did finish was Mongrels and it was excellent! It follows a boy in a werewolf family, and he travels all over in almost nomadic lifestyle with his aunt and uncle, and the chapters are mostly set up as short stories, as if he is writing a story about himself during a certain period of time. It's quite charming and I am very happy I picked it up!

Suzie

Saturday was dark and depressing but Sunday was sunny and I even got out to the Value Village sale and then came home and finally completed making bagels for the first time! Wow!!! Unbelievably delicious. This may be one of the most dangerous things I have ever learned to make. The perfect way to start my Foodie Bucket List.

Suzie

Annual tax crunch nightmare day but somehow I managed to also make pickles. I would like life to go from sour to sweet now please.
