Jamie

I spent the weekend really digging in to tech stuff but also managed to try two new recipes! I figured pictures of the latter would be more interesting, though it will overlap with stART! On Saturday we made crockpot Jerk Chicken, which was hot and delicious, and last night I whipped up these rock cakes. Why did I decide I needed to bake them at 9:30 pm on a Sunday, I have no idea, but I'm glad I did. I'd never heard of rock cakes before but they looked so good in The Simple Things magazine that I had to try them out. They were incredibly simple once I sorted out the British measurements, and really yummy. Once you've got the process down, if you have a food processor, you could probably get these in the oven in about 15 minutes!

Shannon

I spend a lot of the weekend enjoying re-visiting the film Breaking Dawn: Part 2 as well as ALL the extras on the DVD in preparation for an upcoming episode of Before the Dawn. I can't quite believe that The Twilight Saga really has summed up. Wow. What a ride.

Suzie

A new pizza place opened up in our neighbourhood so on International Women's Day (we were supposed to go out with friends but the event was cancelled) I ordered one of their pizzas. It tasted freezer-burned (probably the dough) and Reg said it tasted like hot dogs. Every pizza at the place seemed to have bacon on it so I had to request no bacon. Oh well, at least I didn't have to cook!

Wow, Shannon, that really has been a long ride. It's wild to think that it has officially come to a close. I'm glad there was so much enjoyment along the way!

Aw, that's so disappointing, Suzie! Though I think not having to cook on International Women's Day is awesome!

Rock cakes?! That is new to me! Of course it makes me think they're rock hard but can't be because they look so good. I would love to find a good jerk chicken recipe that I can make and finally enjoy because I control the heat.

Shannon, it's true, quite the vampiric Odyssey! I hope you're not too sad that it is over and that it was a long time of fun.

Jamie, I did do groceries and laundry on Friday, LOL, so a night off dinner was a treat.

Lol, we did laundry on Friday too! It must have been a day for getting things done :)

I'm assuming they're called rock cakes because they're the shape of rocks. They're not hard at all. I'd say they're just a little bit spongey. They remind me of something but I haven't quite been able to place it. They are as easy as can be. Here's a recipe that is very similar:

Spongey? Interesting. From the look of the similar recipe I would have thought they would have been like scones or tea biscuits. Very cool Jamie, thanks! Totally a new one for me.

They are a lot like scones really. Totally true :)

Those rock cakes look amazing Jamie, and I wonder what did get ya to make them that late in the day! Maybe you will find them coming in handy all week long :)

I'm so sorry to hear the pizza was a let down, it's so hard when you do something as a treat or a relief thing and it doesn't actually satiate. Gah!

The Twi-Journey has been a long one and I think on the podcast we'll squeak out one more legit way to discuss it but other than that it is time for it to come to a close. I like that it does though, it's nice to have a full and completely saga full of lots of memories and great moments. Sigh.
