Rewind: March 18, 2012

Jamie

Today we're getting an estimate on replacing our fence. Looking back at this picture when we moved in back in 2004, the fence needed replacing then! It's far worse now, but I can assure you that the garden has come a very long way. One thing I will miss is the rugged background for pictures of flowers!

Under Our Willow Tree

Suzie/Reg

Recently Reg asked me to take a photograph of a photograph of his grandfather who you can see above in the center in the WW1 Halifax Rifles Infantry. He is Reg's namesake and I thought it was a cool idea to do a rewind of Reg's family.

That is completely awesome, Suzie! A great picture and a real treasure. What a treat to have some of Reg's Rewind under the willow tree :)

I thought the same thing, what an awesome backdrop for photos Jamie! You just replacing it or trying something unusual?

Thanks, it is so nice to share Reg's history here too. Wild photo, isn't it. Reg's Dad grew up in a very different era too.

We'll be putting in a taller shadow fence with lattice on top. We'll get a new gate too and also maybe open the front of the deck with some stairs down into the garden as well.

Hey, you'll see it when you visit!

That WW1 pic is awesome. How wonderful a keepsake is that?
And I don't know...I actually love the old fence, so rustic and weathered looking...
(love this blog)

Oh that sounds pretty Jamie! So it'll be done when I'm in Ontario? That's awesome! Boho Mom, yes, it is a total treasure. Reg's family is big into genealogy and keepsakes. Thanks for reading Boho Mom! So glad you are enjoying our blog. :)

Wow, great picture of a picture Suzie and a lovely Rewind idea to look back into Reg's history!

Speaking of history wow that only a few plants is ancient history for your lush & lively garden Jamie! Your garden has come so far and is so aliven, it's wild to see it back in it's rootyness.

Boho Mom, I'm so glad you're here and reading. Thank you for your kidn words! I hear you on the gifts of this fence. I have so many pictures with it as a fascinating backdrop! Still, now the slats are falling down and rotting away. It's time for us to say goodbye.

Suzie, yep, we hope to have the fence in before we go to France. It's a bit ambitious but I want to move before too many of my plants will be impacted.

Thank you, Shannon! I feel so good about turning that patch of sandy dirt around! In the pic you can still see the junk that's in each of the corners. I still can't believe that we dug up a door - a DOOR! (Said with my best Gimli, "A mine!" voice, hehe)
