Jamie

Okay, that's weird. I had totally posted already and then came by and my pic and post were missing! Well, even that can't dampen the excitement of the new addition to our home: a PVR!! We had been using Justin's Archos, and though it seemed second nature to him, it always seemed to be a battle for me. In contrast, this sweet baby is easy-peasy! I've already taped some Olympics, The Dog Whisperer and Around the World in 80 Plates! And I love being able to do a quick 8-second rewind - comes in handy when rewatching a dive or a tumbling run!

Olympic fever continues and I've been really taken by the Judo, and there were lots of amazing matches on Day 4 including a very aggressive one between USA and Germany that I actually thought was going to turn into a fight! But they got gentlemanly and kept joining without it going overboard. There was a lot of excitement for Canada in Judo on Day 4 as Antoine Valois-Fortier (left) won a Bronze after a very powerful match. The Gold went to KIM Jae-Bum (right) of South Korea in another formidable match and you can see the elation of the moment.. I'm really thankful that they aired Judo on TV on Monday with great commentary by Frazer Will, after watching it with commentary I felt I could kind of understand what was going on (live feeds have no commentary - but the athletes have *great* walk on music), for a sport I barely had a clue about beyond the name. I'd love it if they'd add commentary to the live feeds! They did broadcast the Bronze medal match though which was great. I'm going to keep watching Judo this week as there are different weight classes competing on different days. Maybe by the end of the week I'll go from kinda understanding it to really understanding it! And if you missed it, it looks like the Day 4 live feed will stay active - watch here - woohoo!

Suzie

Last night I was determined to finish project 1 in my online crafting workshop. The problem was finding a swatch of polar fleece without cutting something up. Then I realized I had felted a sweater and could use that instead. Making the holes was the hard part but the rest was kind of easy. I really didn't pay any attention to doing a good job, I just wanted to figure out how to do it and it still didn't look that bad in the end. This is a huge step for me. My shirts are always too short and just the idea of adding a nice trim to the bottom is liberating and exciting!

We managed to catch that judo match yesterday - wow! What an amazing victory. I'm so happy for Antoine!

And I'm so not surprised that you're enjoying the Judo. I can totally see you doing that!

Absolutely Jamie, I think Judo suits Shannon too. It is the one martial art that Reg should have studied since grappling is so important in fighting.

I was sad to hear the Chinese girl who won gold in swimming was smeared in the media yesterday, even though she tested clean.

Proud of Canada though! Heard we had a great day yesterday!

One thing I'm loving about the Judo is the different things that count or don't count for points - like non-combativeness can ding you and also there is an 'ultimate move' that if you pull it off... you win! So cool I don't know if I could do it though!

Suzie I love your determination to do your crafting project, and way to get creative on finding materials. So much learning is by doing so yay for doing!!! And it looks totally cute to boot

Suzie, I just love that square. It is so pretty! (Of course, I love those colours - my favourite cozy combo!)

What a brilliant idea to elongate your shirts that way. Brilliant!

LOL, I can totally hear a Mortal-Kombat-style announcer saying, "Ultimate Move"!

That's happened to me too Jamie, so weird when the post disappears but man, am I ever happy to hear you have a PVR now! Isn't it sweet? I'm still in love with mine. Yay for you!

Ultimate move? Totally sounds out of Mortal Combat, you're right Jamie!

Thanks Shannon, determination it is. It sure doesn't come naturally to me but then I remember, neither did food. So glad you think it looks cute and I agree Jamie, comfort colours for me too. Yes, can't wait to elongate my shirts, just hope you can do this technique on cotton too.

LOL, I thought for a moment you were saying determination doesn't come naturally to you, Suzie, and I was like.... um... ;)

Awesome news about your PVR Jamie (remember: SYTYCD is on tonight!) I'm sure you will love it. Ah, the PVR, not SYTYCD...although you'll probably love that too!

And I mis-read that as non-determination too for Suzie and had to double check because ..um... Suzie certainly is :) YAY for sticking with it.

LOL, yup, when I stick to something I'm like a pitbull but it has to be "pitbull-worthy" and crocheting is, LOL. Thanks for seeing that in me!
