Jamie

We had a great time celebrating Mom's birthday at Mandarin yesterday. It has been years since we've gone. Suzie, we were thinking maybe since we went with Auntie Laima in Burlington! This year they even took this great picture of us and Mom, printed it and gave it to her in this little frame! Totally awesome.

It was interesting attending the graphic design course online. I didn't have tech issues (woot!) but I only lasted half an hour. This first lesson was a lot about print design and the very basics about spacing and alignment. It gave me a headache (I think I am allergic to boredom) so I lay down and took a nap instead. I am thinking of showing up for the Friday class though. Jamie, did you see any of it?

I did watch a bunch of the workshop yesterday night and am trying to watch a bit today too. You know, I liked it and I learned from it. I'm more of a beginner when it comes to this stuff. I thought the idea of playing with the four rules, for example, was great.

I think the pace is slower because it really is someone going through the content and teaching. I wish I had the time to sit and watch it all.

That is totally awesome! I love that they did that and wow, not since I was there?! That's just too long! Thanks for sharing that with me Jamie, I lov eit.

I am so glad you liked the workshop and that it is helping. The rules of four, that is the division of an image, right? Sounds like the learning curve is taking off, which is great. I will definitely try and watch some tomorrow. I just wasn't feeling great yesterday.

Thanks for letting me know!

I forgot to say that I love that you used that image. When it came on, I thought of you, LOL!

I meant the four design rules she outlined: contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity.

Did you really?! Too funny Jamie!

Oh I would have loved to have learned those rules, LOL. Thanks for clarifying Jamie.

Awww, what a nice photo from Mandarin! I thought it was so sweet that they took a picture of us for Mom for her birthday. It was a lot of fun to go and so much yummy food to enjoy. Yay for Mom's Bday!

I'm so sorry to hear that you got headachey while doing the course Suzie, I wonder if a different format is better for you. I hope you got to learn something, and that the lie down helped the headache!

Sorry not pics from me recently, just haven't been up to it.

I agree, that is lovely the Mandarin does that! I guess it's THE spot to celebrate, very smart and thoughtful.

I'm wondering about the format too Shannon. If it's causing the problem. I wonder why the computer is so much worse than the TV?

No worries, I totally get not being up to posting Shannon.

It makes so much sense to find the format that works for you.

I can see how YouTube video lessons could work better for you, Suzie, because you can hone in on a skill or a concept that you don't know and focus on that. Whereas with this, you hear all the content and have to sift through to what is useful to you.

Yes, maybe that's it, I need something that is much shorter and to the point on a particular skill. Huh, a lot like the minute videos I'm doing, LOL.

Doing the sifting this was just too energy-sucking for me which is too bad. She's a good teacher. I hope you get more out of the class today Jamie! I might pop in again. I did yesterday but had the same problem.
