Jamie

On Sunday Justin and I went to the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Quebec City. This exhibit by Jean-Paul Riopelle touched me deeply. The series extended over three rooms and were the paintings the artist poured out of his heart after the death of his love. Especially with it being Mother's Day, I was moved by the process of grieving reflected in the extraordinary and beautiful works of Riopelle. What a blessing.

After ages of working though The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, I finally finished it! For just a wee book, it took me a long time. I wasn't super enjoying it, but then it finally picked up and wow... pretty awesome. One more book read! YAY! I think one is even on one of my lists... oh, I hope so!

I Love Local Halifax's Open City

Suzie

This Saturday there was a Halifax sort of open house called Open City where there were all sorts of events. Here is my friend Emily on the right doing hoolahooping. We also had $10 lobster poutine, free cupcakes and lemonade and got to try a wedding cake and so much more. It was tiring but awesome!

Sounds like an awesome day and outing Suzie! Lobster poutine... wow, that sounds divine. Never had lobster and potato at the same time. Must have been a nice break from house stuff :)

Late add from me.

Awesome Shannon and was the book on your list? I hope so!

It's true, lobster and potatoes together should be outlawed except this one time of year. Deadly but so good!

Yes, so nice to get out of the house and do something totally not-house-related!

Wow, Shannon, I"m so curious what turned the tide for Jekyll and Hyde! That's great you ended up enjoying it. And hey, yay you for finishing one of "those" books. Do you consider it one of those?

Wow, Suzie, that looks like an awesome event! Yay to going out and having some fun!

I had poutine for the very first time in Quebec! It was a total gourmet-style meal in a bowl, very different from the norm and totally delicious. (And yes, less mushy. You know how I love mushy)

Quebec add for me!

Jamie, is that a rogue photograph? Regardless, thank you for sharing that image. Very profound, I can see why, especially with the timing, it was very powerful.

I totally thought that Jekyll & Hyde would be a "those books" book, but it turns out it's not on any of the lists! I might have to make a Tier 2 or Shannon's Tier, because I think it's deserving of the title of "Those Books" - but I can't include it because it would make my count incongruous!

What a powerful exhibition Jamie, and beautiful timing. The paintings are gorgeous, and so powerful - must have been amazing to see them in person.
