Jamie

A surprising take on Art Day: we spent some time on my sewing project! I've cut out the very last piece and so we are ready to move into next steps. This is such a voyage of discovery. I'll be sharing more on stART when we film tomorrow!

Shannon

My reading journey with Tender is the Night is going so well! I dove into Book 3 and I'm so close to the finish line! It's completely ironic that I'm not terribly enjoying the book, but the process of reading it will stick with me for ages.

Suzie

I look at this photo and I think, hey, those aren't Shannon or Jamie's hands! They're mine! And they're kind of knitting, LOL. I went to the Geek Crafts group and physically it was daunting to sit for four hours and mentally learning how to knit was brutal and I felt kind of stupid but my teacher was amazingly patient. I was quiet for most of the day but opened up by the end. Reg came and we chatted as I worked on my pink bracelet. My hands hurt all night but they were find by the morning. I was shocked! So I did it, yay!!!

Yay!!! Way to go, Suzie! It takes a lot of courage to go and learn and stick to what you're doing. That's a long time to sit and knit but it was probably good to get it settled into your head and hands. For the first while I referred all the time to videos online! I'm so excited for you and proud of you too!

Jamie, I can't wait to hear more about your dress making and wow, it looks fantastic. Way to go!

Yes, I think you're right Jamie, if I had not done it this way for the first time I don't think there's any hope I would even consider continuing. I really needed to be immersed. Thank you so much! I'm proud of me too. :)

Way to go Jamie on getting your last piece cut! That is absolutely amazing. It's quite a big project eh? I'm impressed at how much you are thinking and working on the process along the way.

Way to go on learning how to knit Suzie! I am so impressed. And that's totally an awesome colour, I can't wait to hear more about what you are working on. It's so awesome that you went to the Geek Crafts group, and had a teacher with patience - what a difference that makes (and one reason I'd suck at it, lol). I am thrilled that your hands were okay the next morning too, that is very promising :)

Last of the late adds from me.

Thanks Shannon! There were a few yarn snobs (including my teacher) but I like the pink! I still can't believe it about my hands. I stretched them out that night and I guess that helped.

How awesome your new system is working so well and for a book you're not thrilled about. That's sounds like a win to me!

Thanks so much for the encouragement! It's really being quite a process. I'm learning so much - and not just about sewing!

Wow, Shannon, your doing great with the reading. Even if you don't end up loving the book, it's really been instrumental in your reading practice - and your word learning!

I think the pink is such a happy colour, Suzie. I sure don't understand being a yarn snob, especially when you are starting out! I always start out with a really basic yarn while I find my way!

OH yarn snobs. I know them well. I find they usually turn their noses up at non natural fibres, but I continue to stick with the affordability of acrylic! And for the record, I love the pink.

Thank you both for your support on the reading. I have been so happy to break down some barriers and get more reading done. It's been such a process!

I'm so happy the reading is going so well for you Shannon. Loved your last post on it. It seems to be making you happy and I love that.
