Rewind: June 10, 2012

Jamie

Yes, I'm a little obsessed with the backyard right now. I continue to be so surprised at how deeply impactful I"m finding the changes. I remember when we took this picture, so very happy with how the garden itself had taken shape. Looking at it, I can see how much my mock orange has grown (in the corner, with the white flowers) and I realize I artemisia has not come up this year! And Suzie, remember when we took out that big raspberry bush? I miss the raspberries but am loving the peonies that are there instead. One thing gardening is really teaching me is that sometimes it takes a long time to grow.

Wow, Jamie, it's amazing to see how things have changed in your garden over the years and what has continued to grow and what has completely changed. It's amazing how time can create, change and shape things!

Jamie, it really is amazing how you, your efforts, time and the living force of nature have created magic in your backyard!

BTW, I tried cutting down my raspberry bush and it came back so I left it! I am glad that your peonies are doing so well in that spot. I often think of that day you pulled up that raspberry bush!

Thanks so much. Gardening is full of lessons :)

You know what, Suzie? All these years later a stalk of raspberry bush came up this spring! They are very persistent!
