Photo: One of the creepiest Halloween haunts in the hood - a tomb on the front lawn!
Jamie

Yesterday Justin and I headed out to dinner and a movie. On our way, we walked through our neighbourhood and admired all of the Halloween decorations. Other than the crazy rock-n-roll strobe light hanging skeleton of our youth, Suzie, this was the spookiest I've seen. It's a full-size tomb on the lawn and I literally jumped when I discovered there was a ghost inside!

Shannon

Dinner for lunch! Bit of a cheat as I made this Wed but we had it for lunch on Halloween. Yummy crock-pot chicken and biscuits (but used hamburger buns). It was like having the inside of a chicken pot pie. Yum! One of the oddest things I didn't realized I would miss that I packed was my recipes, but this is giving me a chance to find new ones! This one was a Rachel Ray recipe.

Suzie

What an incredibly stressful day I had. Great time talking to Shannon but after that we had the hardest time tracking down a pumpkin and we had to take the car in and I thought picking it up for Halloween tomorrow was a good thing but it turns out it wasn't and I hardly ate anything... I am burned out. I am going to really think of Halloween as the end of a really terrible year and say good-bye to its frustrations and maybe collapse for a while.

Jamie

Yesterday was a wonderfully inspiring Power Picnic. I am thoroughly enjoying this process of doing strategic business sessions on everyone's businesses. We learn so much from one another and really move forward through the process. And yesterday we had a great guest, Sly! What a treat to have this beautiful dog hanging out.

Shannon

Headed back to drop off my keys and enjoying one more walk down the street. I really enjoyed living on that street. Another one for the good books!

Halloween Sugar Glass Shards-O-Rama

Suzie

Yesterday I had to get my tooth fixed at the dentist. Popcorn broke off some of a filling (thankfully not a tooth) so I thought it was only fitting to come home and make some apple-flavoured candy, LOL.

Jamie

You just never know when you're going to find art you like. Justin and I went to Canadian Tire for an air conditioner cover, light bulbs and Command hooks and there was this fetching piece of a colourful cow. I just loved it - and from the response on Facebook, I'm not the only one.

Shannon

I know I'm trying really hard not to get hung up on getting rooted to things like this, but that doesn't mean I wasn't thrilled to randomly see yesterday that I'm listed on Goodreads as their #118th Top Reviewer. I think it's from the pool of folks in Canada, and may just be for this month, but I don't care about the details I'm just thrilled to see it!  Totally a highlight of an otherwise extremely trying day.  Books for the win, literally.

Suzie

It has been soooooooooo long since I have had my hair cut! I went in for the cut and colour deal and asked for a lot of the old layers to be taken out. I plan on growing my hair over the winter so I needed something low maintenance, including the colour. It is a little dark but she assured me it will lighten over time which is fine. I really like it so far. Hopefully I take a photo I like with my new do soon.

Suzie

I finally had a day to work a bit on my Hal-Con costume. I used the Flamingo Pink dye and now also have pink turtle necks and tank tops. Couldn't let the dye go to waste! I had a lot of shirts that were discolouring and now, well, they are very colourful! Because the tights were synthetic, they turned just a light dusty rose pink which is exactly what I wanted. Yay!

Jamie

Once again I'm kind of breaking the rules with a rewind - but still, this represents spending several hours tucked in with the slides, a very lovely, touching way of spending Friday. I love this picture of me. The minute I saw it I knew it was my sheer enjoyment of that feeling of the wind in your hair and on your skin, the freshness, the aliveness. I love the wind - and I guess I always have.

Suzie

Another incredibly long and stressful day but the dishwasher is in! It has successfully gone through the rinse cycle and now I have to actually make food so that I can make sure it's totally working. OMG, I am so happy. So relieved. This was a mega project for us and it's done. My hands are especially happy!

Jamie

Yesterday was the big day: Pearl Diving! It was so wonderful to share this workshop - even though we had tons of technical difficulties! Still, magic would not be thwarted by late starts and disabled chat. I hope that everyone walked away with pearls that will open up great possibilities and propel them and their work forward. And I'm so thankful for Shannon who made such a difference, including making sure I ate something before and after the workshop! Thank you, Shannon!

Shannon

It was such a treat to attend Jamie's Pearl Diving workshop, I was very impressed with how the process put together things that felt unconnected all together in a very understandable way.  I am really going to be thinking about the results and look forward to putting the discovered truths and results into action!

Suzie

I would have much preferred Pearl Diving with my sisters yesterday! But I had to wrap up and go out to my doctor's appointment. Turns out all my tests suggest I am healthy!!!!! Now I still have one last mega test to do in November but hopefully this will be the last time I take public transit for the year. I can't believe that is a relief but here? It is big time. Oh and the cold/flu I was fighting? My doc saw no signs of it and my ear infection is healing so it's all good. Yay! So glad to have that done.

October 24, 2013

Jamie

Yesterday I had the opportunity to get out and about for a bit. I remembered (again) how much it nourishes me to walk around the city with my camera and stopping in at a coffee shop with my journal. I'm going to make the effort to do this even more regularly.

Shannon

I'm almost completely unpacked, but one of the last sets of stuff to disperse was this odd array of tech and paper.  Cuz I have tons of both, and I use them liberally!

Suzie

I cooked the sausages last night for my favourite soup! And... they were super dry and kind of tasted like shoe leather, LOL. But I did it and I'm happy with myself. I also know that the next batch will be even better. Now that I have done it once it is far less intimidating and I know the food can only improve from here.

October 23, 2013

Jamie

I can't usually see the moon from my studio but last night I did and it was beautiful. It struck me as meaningful that the tree was holding the big beautiful moon right after she had released that yellow plastic bag.

Shannon

Master....Master.....Master Control! I know you thought I was going to say Master of Puppets, but no puppets here...just peripherals. Computer peripherals to be exact. I didn't realized quite how many I had! The extra monitor is really an amazing thing to have, and something I'd never consider until it was just there and I'm already totally adjusted to having it. And this is a bit of a cheat because I didn't take this picture yesterday, but it sure was where I spent most of my day!

Suzie

Yay! I did it! I made my own Italian sausages and am so thrilled. It was hell though. Mostly because all my tech equipment died. Going to that haunted houses fried my video camera batteries and now I have to order all new ones online. At least that didn't happen during Hal-Con! So I shot this with my PowerShot and then that battery died but at least I have some evidence that I did it. I made sausages and it was so cool!!! I bet Mom would be proud.

October 22, 2013

Jamie

I went to work this morning and the plastic bag that has been stuck in our tree for over a year was gone. GONE! I had to open my door and stare for a while, looking closely, making sure it wasn't just wrapped around something or behind something. Once I was sure, I just about did a jig of delight!

Shannon

The move is complete!  I'm still keeping a turtle pace as I unpack, as it's wisdom certainly saw me through the move itself along with so much help which I am so grateful for. I'm still getting settled but everything is a-okay and I can actually relax and sleep which is so divine.

Suzie

I have kept this under wraps but today I am revealing my first sponsored recipe video! Sainsbury's (a huge grocery store in the UK) picked bloggers to make their recipes and I was one of them. It was very challenging personally (not feeling well, worried about disappointing them) but the recipe was amazing. I actually absolutely recommend it for both of you to try, just make sure to cook down the sauce until it is thick. This took 30 minutes for me. Oh I hope I did a good job. It is very different doing a video for someone else. I hope my own Suzie-style was still there.

October 21, 2013

Jamie

I'm so proud that I managed to get out for a run yesterday! I am the most erratic runner ever! Still, I stick with it. The next step is getting regular with it. Of course, I always feel like that just before we hit winter! Whether it's running or not, I'm feeling good about shifting things into a really healthful, nourishing mode. I think we're needing that at our place.

Suzie

A happy photo for a frustrating weekend! I took this while at the walk-in clinic surrounded by so many coughing and sneezing people feeling quite doomed. I had to wait over an hour so I played around with the settings on my camera and took picture of this frog. I am definitely fighting something and spent most of the weekend asleep on the couch. The doc prescribed me eardrops which I was profoundly grateful for. So ironic that the Annual Odyssey Health Quest almost always ends in me overdoing it and getting sick. At least I am in less pain now thanks to the drops.

Rewind: October 20, 2013

Jamie

Doing rewinds is feeling particularly appropriate since I've been working on our older family photos! I just love this picture of me and a deer. There are a few like this and I just looked at me, all gentle and beaming at being with the animals, and knew I haven't changed a bit.

October 19, 2013

Jamie

Jinx always loves it when we do dreamboards! She particularly likes to "bless the board" by sitting right in the middle of it while I'm creating. Thanks, Jinx! Sitting down and making our boards was the perfect way to transition through all of the changes that have been going on lately. I'm looking forward to lots of dreams come true.

Suzie

Yesterday I finished editing a video montage of our visit to Atlantic Play's Haunted Castle and got a lot of errands done. Reg and I had a blast going to the haunted castle but OMG, it was scary. I am so glad I finally got time to finish the video. For me, people are way more scary than the paranormal!

October 18, 2013

Jamie

Of course the big focus yesterday was getting Shannon moved. I'm still in a bit of amazement about how smoothly things went! A lot of that is due to Shannon's extraordinary preparation! The movers were great. Ordering boxes was brilliant. Auntie Laima and Uncle Meinhard helped - and so did the weather. The day was glorious! The move was done by 3:00 except for the inevitable pizza eating, which came a little bit later.

Suzie

Bye bye dishwasher! I was so happy when I heard it crunch in the garbage truck. I wasn't sure they would take it. Now we have to find one that fits! Also, had a busy day filming in my kitchen. What a crazy-busy week!

October 17, 2013

Jamie

I'm so thankful to have been able to make it out to choir again! When they announced we'd be singing Leonard Cohen, I just had to go! And what fun Danette and Amy just had to go too! We had a fabulous time sharing the experience and singing together.

Shannon

I'm not sure which of the two of us is more tired!  Actually this might be the literal difference between beign tired, and resting - such a theme this week :)  By the time this goes up, we should be well into the move.  Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.

Suzie

It is getting to be that time of year. It is definitely cooling off and as much as I hated to return Season 4 of Burn Notice without getting through it, my window to the library is definitely closing. Plus, there is so much on TV that we just did not have time to watch it. Guess you are going to get ahead of me now Shannon!

October 16, 2013

Jamie

There may be a few "rewind" oriented days as I set myself to getting through the slides. They are such a treasure! There are so many that none of us have seen. Yesterday I spent the entire night tucked into working through the early days of me. Shannon, I'll be sure to get some early days of you next!

Shannon

I'm (literally) getting down to the nitty gritty!

Suzie

Yesterday was spent entirely working on the Turducken post, it took over my life! So I am putting up a photo I took of the Haunted House Reg and I went to over the weekend. I am putting together a video post about it. It was crazy. I even got attacked by a clown with an air horn. Lots of screaming!

October 15, 2013

Jamie

I know Tuesdays aren't the day for rewinds but this really does represent the Thanksgiving Monday we had. We wanted to do something entirely different but still special and so had a day of caramel corn and DIY personalized pizzas - yum!! We also finally dedicated some time and energy to opening up the carousels of slides. Suzie, we started with the one I promised you we would and what a treasure trove! It's been a joy to experience and share these delights.

 Shannon

It was so much fun to have a slide day at Jamie's!  Talk about a day of things to be thankful for, so many wonderful family images captured over the years.

Suzie

Yesterday was all about the Turducken product testing! Video, photos... Wow. It was quite delicious but I think I will go for the chicken apple stuffed one next time.

October 14, 2013

Jamie

On Sunday we got out to see the movie Gravity in IMAX 3D! It was a wonderful day to be downtown - moody, foggy, quiet. We walked for a while and stumbled across the huge Ai Weiwei bike installation at Nathan Phillips Square. What a treat to walk in, around and through this piece, taking pictures all the while. You never know what you'll see!

Shannon

The last of the jam.
I have a feeling this might be a theme of the week for me!

Spooky October Fun: Boutiliers Costume Rentals

Suzie

On the weekend Reg and I went to a costume rental place that was going out of business. I so wanted Reg to buy this outfit but even on sale it was $150! So I left with awesome photographs and memories.

October 12, 2013

Jamie

A wonderful moment to represent our last Friday night at Shannon's place - the sun setting as we walk to get some good food nearby, Shannon's feet and shadow, a lovely neighourhood cat we call Tom - and him posing right beside how he got his name. It's always sad to say goodbye but hopefully this is the start of a really nourishing next phase!

Shannon

As the move date approaches, I realized yesterday that it was the *last* Friday in my apartment! It was nice to have Jamie come viist and help with the packing, and the pop out for yum dinner from Loblaws salad bar and San Pellegrino. It's really, really getting real! So much so that I think it is real :)

Suzie

Believe it or not, this is my Sally Ann Thrift Store! I shared an even spookier photo on Facebook. This was supposed to be a fun Friday but it started off at the dentist. She had to do some adjustments and there might still be an issue. Not fair. At least I got out for another free lunch at McDonald's and did some shopping and came in under budget thanks to the $2 sale.

October 11, 2013

Jamie

Even though a day of erranding and appointments can be tiring, I just LOVE it when it takes me to a neighbourhood I love and the weather's nice and I can turn the entire event into a photo safari. I had such a good time finding moments yesterday and this one is my favourite. I just love the way the light and shadow arrived and how this metal cat looks like she's sharpening her claws on the tree. Artistic delight found on a walk - I love that!

Shannon

A quick shot while I was out yesterday and a little reprieve in the middle of busy-ness.  Came home tired but very, very relieved.

Suzie

This display at my opthamologist's was just too weird not to share. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to use it for today's post. I am so relieved to have real glasses that actually work! I could do crochet last night quite easily. I had no idea how much I was struggling without having help seeing. What a relief!

October 10, 2013

Jamie

I can't get enough of these gorgeous fall days! It was such a treat to head out to Tanya's for co-working in the beautiful sunshine and enjoy these glorious leaves! Welcome fresh air in a work, work, work day!

Shannon

Amidst all the craziness of yesterday, I did manage got through a few bins and boxes, including some Christmas and holiday stuff and look who was in it: A Luke Skywalker Pez Dispenser! This isn't from the original release of the films, but it's still super cool!

Suzie

Sometimes it pays to complain. Literally. After a horrible dinner out with Auntie Laima and Uncle Meinhard, I received a letter apologizing for our experience yesterday. They even paid us back for the dinner and gave me a gift card! I'm a little nervous about going back, wonder if I am on a "watch out for..." list, LOL. Still, it's the first time I have ever complained about anything here and received such a professional response. Kind of gives me hope.
