It was so good for me to spend the weekend on retreat. I did lots of meditating, reading, writing, collaging. I probably could have spent some more time just straight up sleeping but the weather was so delicious and clear and sunny that I wanted to be connected to it as much as possible. One blessing that came from the overwhelming news a couple of years ago that the entire wall of the studio should be replaced was that I got this wonderful door. It was a delight to sit in front of it with a cup of tea and finish The Night Circus, which I adored!
The packing has officially started and officially feels real. It's really weird to go through stuff and see what I have and what will be packed away. Of course I'm tracking it, because that's what I do!

Auntie Laima has been hard at work teaching me about sewing. We have had many tech issues with the fancy embroidery machine unfortunately but we are using the other machine she gave me to alter a shirt so I am getting the hang of using the manual machine more. It's also been really wonderful to be hanging out with family and the weather has beens superb!

Hey! I scheduled this to go later!!!
How wonderful, Suzie! What a treasure to have this time with Auntie Laima and connect to the women of our family with sewing. Except me, man, I just can't wrap my head around it! Though, I have to say, I've been loving some art made with stitching lately, hmmm...
I'm glad you're having a good time!
Sounds like a weekend of refreshing awesomeness Jamie! And I'm so glad you enjoyed Night Circus - I still have to finish it, and I'm so looking forward to that.
How lovely to spend family time with Auntie Laima Suzie, I hope you eventually got the embroadery machine working too!
And late add from me, totally slept in :(
Jamie, it's like having you own private secret deck with that door, I love it and am so happy the retreat went well.
I'm still having quite the challenging time wrapping my head around it too but she is a great teacher. Oh, art with stitching sounds so awesome!
Shannon, that is quite the project and yes, everything must feel so much more real now. Glad you got some sleep!
Auntie Laima is going to have to take the machine back with her because it is acting so wonky. She is going to show me what she can and will try and teach me eventually through Skype. That's our plan!
I love watching your box count, Shannon. I think "tracking" is a total Shannon activity! I also really enjoyed your vlog about the process!
It does feel like a lovely deck up there, Suzie. That may even be something we eventually build up here, which would be awesome.
That's such a drag about the machine, Suzie, especially after Auntie Laima making it all the way out there. Did she bring the desk too?
She found the desk another home, I am going to keep mine. Not sure who it ended up going to.
Oh, I hope that's okay :(
