March 8, 2015: Random

Jamie

Two years ago in March I saw this little beauty in the window of a yoga studio near Shannon's old apartment. I love going back and looking at "this time x-years ago" photos for random!

Shannon

Not sure what this is..or what it was suppose to be. Lovely shade of purple though!

Suzie

This is how people create houses now in Vancouver. They make a giant one for themselves and then create a "laneway" house to rent which helps pay for the mortgage of the big house. It's the latest trend here, I'm seeing them everywhere.

I totally got to wear my tech-sergeant shirt on Friday! Don't worry, none of the test videos / hangouts are available to watch. So much learning! Looking forward to putting that into action on Tuesday.

I took myself on another artist's date to the weird Starbucks. You can see me in the reflection of the sidewalk sign. This time I went in an ordered a chocolate croissant, had a decaf vanilla latte (which I liked!) and just wrote with my journal on my lap. It was packed and I was lucky to get a seat. I didn't stay long but I got to try La Boulange experience and everyone left me alone. It was awesome.

Jamie

I was up at St Clair West station yesterday and saw these totally frost-covered windows with the shadows of trees; I was captivated. It felt like a beautiful set for a great piece of theatre or fabulous Japanese screens for a home.

Shannon

Gah! Another day where I barely took any pictures. But it started off with morning pages, as so many days do. I wonder how long I have been doing them regularly now. Might even be years. Wow.

Suzie

I had to go into the medical clinic to get a bunch of prescriptions but I stopped by the thrift store next door and bought this bowl for $1.50. I know, the last thing I needed was a bowl but it isn't just any bowl. I want to use it for painting. I saw that CreativeBug has a new watercolour painting class and knew that is what this was for. I'm using the giant containers I bought to house a ton of water and so I will ladle it into the bowl which feels like a kind of ritual. Will prevent me from having to get up and means as soon as I feel like painting, I can paint right away.

Not a great picture (in fact, a bit creepy) but this was me at choir last night. We sang Dreams by Fleetwood Mac! It was a very moving experience for me, especially because Shannon and I had spent some of the afternoon on Mom's tax stuff and I was really feeling the "what you had... and what you lost..." message in a new way. Still, it was beautiful and good for my heart.

Shannon

THE BIG REVEAL! I finally got to vlogging yesterday after a month of almost not doing any vlogs. I'm switching up how I do things, and I hope it ends up being way better than well...not vlogging. I'm going low-pressure and maybe messier but it's what I can do. And I got a whole bunch of vlogs done yesterday (yay!) including this unboxing.

There are so many cookbooks I want to buy but I'm trying not to save money so I ordered them through the library instead so I can check them out first. Also, my crafts room appears to be turning into my kitchen office too which freaked me out at first but with it being right off the kitchen, I kind of love it now. It's much easier b

Jamie

Yesterday all sorts of to-dos converged and it became really clear that I simply have too many big projects on the go. I was feeling pretty fuzzy and thought I'd pull out the cards for some guidance. That Heirophant and Hermit are telling me to start focusing on writing my book already!

Shannon

It's a new month, and that means it's time to dive into a new book for the Book to Film Challenge. For March I chose Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy, and the trailers for the movie are already out and I'm trying to avoid them! The film comes out in early May so this is a tighter turnaround than some of my other picks this year. I was very relieved that when I started this today, that I actually understood it. When I first tried it about a year ago I had no clue what what going on, and because of that I actively worked towards upping my game on reading including starting the Those Books Exploration. I'm also getting lots of new words to look up. Almost 10 a chapter, and ..ah... they are really short chapters. Countenance, indecorous, connivance and ensconced...you will be defined!

Suzie

I was only out for a little bit on Tuesday. I finally slept after brutal insomnia for a week! Went out to get errands done with Reg and was so excited to see that Starbucks had launched their new bakery section. Totally by accident. I love it. I just feel so much more connected to the real foodie world here.

I'm surprised how much I've come to love and use my coloured pencils. I've had this set of Prismacolors for as long as I can remember! A while back I took them out and started using them to colour in my doodling and I've never looked back. Now I'm using them in my journal, on my to-do list and even in my mixed media found flowers!

Shannon

Stopped by Indigo and I always love reading all their section title, although I'm not sure how often I see swords in science fiction I still appreciated this one!

Suzie

Reg and I spent the day down at Granville Island with our friend from Halifax who was here before going overseas. It was super sunny and a tad chilly and it turns out a lot of stores are closed on Mondays but we ended up having a great time. It felt like we had a long weekend!

Jamie

It was so great to sit down to art day! I have been aching to get at my found flowers and even made the time to do some more glitter bombing! This is definitely a great way to spend a Sunday!

Shannon

Art Day! I am not sure how I feel about this piece, I think it's still in process. I really like some of it but not all of it. Interesting to work on something, and then take a break before coming back to it. I wonder where it will go..if anywhere/?

Suzie

Dad and Julie generously bought me this sauce pan for my birthday. It's oddly weighted and is great on the stove but as soon as I put it on another surface, it was so wobbly that my Hollandaise sauce broke. I have not had a lot of successes in the kitchen lately but at least this is a neat photo.
