Auntie Laima and I once again worked together on my first test piece and we pretty much got it done. There were some tech issues (including me falling over at one point) but I am feeling much more confident about it now. Being the amazing teacher she is, Auntie Laima got me adding to my skills by introducing me to the program for editing graphics which is so amazing it is kind of mind blowing. I was feeling down because I'm having a lot of hand and wrist pain from crocheting so doing something like this was inspiring. Don't you love that quilt background she has? I think it's awesome! OK, babbling...

I've been finding it a bit challenging to get back into the swing of things. Yesterday it really helped to spend some time getting grounded and clear on my to-dos. I'm trying a new system that's actually in line with so many organizational systems recommended out there. I have one book where I gather my to-dos (I also gather my to-buys at the back of the book) and then the other book is my Action Book, where I list what I'm actually going to work on this week or today. So far it's working really well for me.

With my birthday coming up I am trying to make some foodie jewellery goodies to give away on my blog to celebrate. I have more than a little hobbit in me!

It looks like this set up and doing a bit at a time is working for Shannon and me! Last night we sat down and did the next step in the current exercise. It's fascinating to observe how things shift and grow. When I first put the gesso down I didn't like how it was looking at all. By the time I finished I loved the snowstorm that had been created!

I have been craving those muffins you made us Jamie when I was in Toronto, I think they were from Quaker and are bran? I went through my Zombie Apocalypse supplies and was shocked to discover I had zero bran! So screw it. As soon as it is warm enough I am going to go to the store and buy that mix. :) BTW, people mentioned how unorganized I am when they saw this photo but for me, this is very organized, LOL. I mean, I got it all to fit!

After filming stART yesterday I think we were inspired to get to the Life Book warm-up exercise! I had preset the table so that we could pop in whenever we had a moment and last night was the time. It was great to discover that it's okay, maybe even desirable, to sit down to create in small bites. We've done the first couple of stages and will get to the next step sometime soon. Fun - and a great break at the end of a long day.

I did a quick photoshoot of Polly's Wonder Woman wrist guards yesterday. It was so fun to share with you both and see what you're up to during stART!

I have been so incredibly absent. It feels lovely to arrive back here under the Willow Tree. I feel like lying down in the green grass and looking up into its branches, listening the the breeze play with its sweeping arms. It really has been quite a time. I've been thinking about how in the chaos, a little moment of beauty can warm your heart.

From changing the bobbin, the foot of the embroidery machine, threading it, finding the right hoop at the right angle, getting the files to upload to the machine… Auntie Laima and I had quite the creative workout on Skype yesterday but it paid off. Well, it's good we are going a test because I picked the wrong colour but one layer is complete! That was all we could do today but it was a fantastic (tad exhausted for both of us) start. I learned a ton! This photo is of the moment it actually started to embroider. It was so amazing! I could never have done this without her help. What a creative maverick she is!

While Reg was at guitar class I took the opportunity to do the first part of the Life Book warmup. I am still having the same issues I always seem to have but it felt good to get moving and try and learn. It did not help that the colour in my meditation was supposed to be purple and I did not have a purple watercolour crayon. But I adapted! Which is saying a lot for me.

This is our back deck yesterday and there was still more snow to come. I can't do an update because I taped bubble wrap to the windows of the backdoor because a dreadful amount of cold air was getting in. It was a crazy storm. Reminded me of the one that hits Tinsel Town in Rudolph. Today? Bright, sunny and -12C. By Monday it's supposed to warm up and rain and then go down again and another huge storm is coming. Good grief!
