Rewind: March 10, 2013

Jamie

This is a bit of a weird rewind. This weekend Justin and I went to an open house and it really had me thinking about renovation, transformation, leaving things better, that kind of thing. I love that kind of thing. And because I can focus on it so persistently sometimes I can forget to stop and see how far things have come. This is a stool from Grandma (Dad's mom) that I used to sit at my coaching desk when I first started working in the studio. A couple of years ago we had it beautifully reupholstered in a lovely green fabric. Such a little thing; such a big difference. I'm spending some time paying attention to the improvements we've already made!

Jamie

Another wonderful Friday hanging with Shannon. We got stuff done, got stuff sorted and had great conversation to boot! And yep, I see Shannon shared the yummy dinner we had. All good! I love Fridays.

Dinner for Jamie & me at my place, at least part of dinner...I should have gotten a pic of the sandwiches too! It was a very productive evening of good times and great company, and a healthy salad to boot! It was also very exciting to get the antenna set up, but I all the pics I took were of Grimm and well... I didn't want to spoil that for either of ya :)

Jamie

Yesterday we had our first official guitar lesson and it completely exceeded our expectations! Sure, it's challenging. I feel like a goldfish. I forget what our instructor said the minute he said it. Changing chords feels impossible and my fingertips are killing me! But I had forgotten what a joy it is to make music. I forgot that I love it. I forgot. But when we sat there, me playing a bass line, Justin strumming and our teacher adding a melody, I remembered. It's overwhelming and wonderful.

I started early this week on my SciFi Surprized series and caught up with this Japanese SciFi gem Warning from Space. Very kitsch, very enjoyable and pretty funny. I didn't always know what was going on, but that didn't mean it wasn't fun to watch :)

Suzie

Yesterday I got out the Gesso to work on an art project that I hope goes well. I don't want to share too much since it is good stART material. I also got out the clay which always makes me happy. And! I started on my flavoured tea experiment. Now I just have to wait for my nightgown to show and I will have completed my Monday meme!

Jamie

Yesterday I took Jinx to the vet. She's had some more of those horrible scabs that she had before Christmas. This seems like a constant in poor Jinx-a-roo's life. They gave us some antibiotics and cleaned her ears and clipped her nails and though I tried to convince her this was like a spa visit, Jinx wasn't impressed at all.

Another step in my new TV set up is my lil computer for streaming. Still working out the kinks, but so far most stuff comes through well (oddly CBC is the hardest... but I should be able to watch that on TV-tv pretty clearly). It's a dark and fuzzy pic, but I figured that would be better than not having one at all today!

Suzie

Highlight yesterday was hanging out with Shannon recording Hexed! I love that you are getting cool items from Space Shannon and aren't you lucky to see Orphan Black ahead of time?! I just know it is going to be awesome and can't wait to hear about it.

Jamie

Justin and I have officially signed up for guitar lessons and guitar rental is included! Yesterday we went in and were able to try out several guitars and bring home the one that felt right to us. I tried this one and a beautiful black steel string. It was hard to let that other one go but the steel is so hard on the fingers! Plus, I just love the sound of the classical guitar - though so far with my little hands making a good sound has been a bit challenging. We had a great time sitting down last night just trying to learn a few chords.

Oh the challenges of trying to organize, plan, journal at home. You get up to make a tea...and someone gets *all cozy* right where you are working. Sigh.

Suzie

I know you both probably saw this photo of my new hair cut and colour but it was the only photo I took yesterday. I did do a video of me drinking coconut water live for the first time as well but I like having this photo of me in my kitchen. I even used it to replace the "raw!" edgy profile I had been using. Mostly because I wanted to show off my new look. I am very happy with it, especially the cut.

Jamie

Mondays are my heavy client days and also when I lead Circe's Circle. I've been trying to get in the habit of much earlier mornings so that I can do some writing and some meditation before diving in. What I wish I had taken a picture of yesterday was the corn fritters we made, inspired by Gordon Ramsay's new cooking school show. Special thank you to Suzie for letting me know that you use 100 grams of flour. We made a mess of the kitchen and were clearly winging it with the recipe and though the fritters were only "okay" I think when we refine our approach they will be wonderful. Looking forward to trying them again!

Suzie

I did it! I made it to the dollar store yesterday! As you can see I really bundled up to get there. I had to. I woke up at 3 am with this idea that would not leave me alone. So I went to the dollar store and picked up those cardboard artist canvasses. I feel much better now. OMG, if I knew how I looked before I left the house, I might never leave, LOL.

Jamie

This weekend Justin and I trekked over to Shannon's place to get her hooked up with a router. You can see by my knee here just how helpful I'm being, hehe. I did my tea-drinking, Gobo-petting job very well! It's always nice to have a visit - and now Shannon is hooked up in new and wonderful ways!

The big awesomeness this weekend was Jamie & Justin swinging by, hanging out with me and the cat and making my BluRay player connect online...YAY! Now I can access Netflix and all kinds of fun online content (I'm digging Crackle, even though they show commercials...it's still free!) And then of course there was the surrealness of the moment above where I could see my own YouTube channel on my own TV!! WAY to big...one time I was thankful for it not to be HD!! hehehh

Suzie

Jen, Emily and I went out for a couple of adventures on the weekend while the guys played D&D. Here we are at the new location of The Works. Cool how their drinks are served in measuring cups eh? They also had the best mocha shake I have ever had. A recipe I myself have been working on for a long time.
