Jamie

It's Jinx mania this week! She's totally wanting to be with me all the time these days, even when I'm trying to Polyfill cracks in the studio walls! I didn't get this job done either, not because of Jinx but because the Polyfilla was a bit old. We'll get some fresh stuff today and keep working on the studio refresh.

Shannon

It was a LONG day yesterday, and I was happy to get home and relax for a bit including checking out the new series Cracked on CBC that was really good! I'm not a super procedural fan but the Toronto setting, interesting idea and great cast totally won me over.

Suzie

I spontaneously left the house yesterday to go with Reg to get some groceries because the temperature finally went above 0C. I finally got some sleep and was feeling a bit better so I went for it. Reg had bought me some of these pop chips which are so cool They are not fried or baked. They are "pressurized" to pop and give that chip crunch and are very good and not that bad for you. Yum!

I'm going to have to challenge myself to come up with some interesting photos this week. I'm diving deep into the work I'm doing with Nathalie and hunkering down at the kitchen table and my computer - with some company! And in the meantime, we've got paint for the Studio and today we're going to patch up the wall in preparation for painting! Lots of activity but often it looks like me... sitting here... at the computer.

Shannon

I was so happy yesterday when not one, not two, but THREE things on my list were on sale! And all the brands/sizes/formats I needed! And as a bonus, picked up an herbal tea sampler that was ALSO on sale. Yippee!

Suzie

Yesterday I decided to do a crafty one minute video, this time of my cookie pendant. I am curious to see if there are people interested in short craft videos too. One great thing about making slideshows is that if I like all the photos I am using, I will like the thumbnail. Also, if they're under a minute, that means my intro has a good chance of being one of the thumbnails. Man, I love that cookie pendant.

Jamie

I couldn't have been more thrilled to see the interloper yesterday morning! After seeing those tracks, I was pretty sure he'd been stopping by but I hadn't seen him at all. For the past couple of days I've put out some food in the mornings, but nothing. Then I'm chatting with Shannon on the phone and I take a quick look and notice - food is gone! And there he is, calm as you like, cleaning himself on the fence. When I opened the door, he came closer and even hung out for a while. I finally feel like our traumatic misunderstanding is in the past. I'm so glad to be on this adventure.

Shannon

I announced my Sci-Fi Suprize Series this weekend (slightly awkwardly renamed from SciFi Sundays which I think was a way better title but I didn't want to schedule-commit to Sundays). Anyhow, watched my first film Laser Mission with Brandon Lee and Ernest Borgnine (and it was pretty horrible, not even sci-fi but I loved every minute of it) and picked my next film to watch as well. So far, lots of fun, and that's the point so YAY.

Suzie

While Reg was at guitar class I had some time on the computer and made this one minute foodie video, something I have been thinking about doing for a while now. Other than that, I've been resting and resting and my cold just doesn't want to get better. I think it's the dryness making my cough worse. Crappy time for our humidifier to stop working!

Rewind: January 6, 2013

Jamie

Deep in the chaos of redoing my studio, I looked back at how my workspace started at home. This pic is from 2007. So much has changed. Now I spend my days in my studio, surrounded by perwinkle walls, looking out a big window in a new door at the backyard tree, watching the weather as I work. It's a great reminder of how things can evolve.

I'm just so thrilled that Shannon and I saw Les Miz last night - in IMAX no less (so worth it)! There were lots of tears and we had a wonderful time. I couldn't believe how the words were right at the tip of my tongue from beginning to end. It's amazing to think of how long this story and these songs have been with us!

Shannon

Yep, yesterday was all about Les Miz. I was so amazing to see, especially because although I know the words by heart, I didn't know all the stories so getting to see it was both nostalgic and a new experience. And seeing it in IMAX was amazing; thanks Jamie for swapping our seats to where it felt like it was *just us* in the theatre, with Suzie in spirit too. So powerful. And teary!

Suzie

I have been waking up in the morning obsessing about making this chocolate chip cookie pendant scented with vanilla oil. Don't ask me why. I saw a tutorial on it and just had to have one so I could wear it. I finally had a little energy and baked it in my toaster oven in my crafts room and love how it turned out. It's still all shiny in this photo from the oil but it seeped in. I glued a bail to it (to hang it from) so it should be good to wear today. I really thought my creative juices were gone for this kind of thing so I am so happy to have made this for so many reasons.

Jamie

So, this is not a very attractive picture of a not particularly attractive site but it represents something big and awesome!! One of the the things that is happening at Jamie Ridler Studios is that the podcast has grown up so much, she wants to move into her own apartment! And so I'll be hosting her on a separate blog so there's room for guest updates, the transcripts, a book store and so much more! I am absolutely thrilled! And yesterday I am so proud of myself that I set up Wordpress on the domain on my own - and even had big problems, talked it through with tech support and solved it! Then I added the Thesis theme myself, did some trouble-shooting there too and get it done. All of that on about 4 hours of sleep. I'm feeling super proud of me - and super-excited for what's to come!

Shannon

I'm starting to feel the regular rhythms of things start to appear again after holiday goodness, and for me that means heading out to the Library! And of course that means my Library Loot Vlog! I really love doing these, and they are fun and simple to boot. As it's also that time of cross over from one year to the next, I'm also still doing a lot of reflecting and yesterday I looked back at My Year in Books which look a long time to write, but I was happy to get it done right.

Suzie

Reg totally surprised me by coming home with the most beautiful and colourful bouquet of flowers last night! He wanted to cheer me up since I was so sick and thought these would do the trick and did they ever. I love how warm they look juxtaposed with the cool winter colours out the window. I'm a lucky lady.

Jamie

Call me crazy but I've started a new blog. I really needed a place to get messy, to gather, to pull together ideas, a relaxed behind-the-scenes exploration place. I can't believe how important blogging has become as a structure in my life, a way to organize my experience and my thoughts. I hope this will be a very alive exploration that will nourish me and my blog at Jamie Ridler Studios.

Shannon

I just realized I forgot to share my Cold Moon Dreamboard! I did it a bit late, but I think it was still in that 3-Day Moon Cycle so I'm hoping it counts. I went with a smaller format which is unusual for me but just seemed to fit for this time around.

Suzie

We dashed out in the great cold -24C windchill to get groceries yesterday and I was captivated by this lone lobster. I told him not to worry, he was safe with me. Reg said it was the saddest thing he had seen all day. What they did not know is I am determined to cook one lobster before I leave Nova Scotia but I am going to leave this little guy alone.
