Jamie

Lately I've been feeling inspired by video. I created a Jamie Ridler Studios YouTube channel. I also had a lot of fun making another Creative Living video. (I haven't shared it yet but you can see it here). Though I called it a Quick Tip really it's more of a mini workshop since we do the exercise together right on the video. I just loved what showed up when I turned the radio on!

I love that there are so many film choices in this city - like getting a chance to see the Hong Kong/China historically set action/mystery film Let the Bullets Fly with Chow Yun-Fat and Ge You. Actually Ge You is totally the lead and I can't figure out what I know him from, lovely calm presence and a gorgeous voice. The film was long and exuberantly convoluted, but that just make it more fun.

I was convinced that I would have nothing to share from yesterday. I was busy doing housework and trying to de-dust the bedroom but I did accomplish one cool thing. I took a "final" photo of my reversible Vincent Price pendant. After the whole soldering issue, I just haven't been feeling crafty. So I decided to focus (literally) on something I have accomplished which is this pendant. I worked so hard on it and a long, long time. And... I am totally in love with it so... yay Suzie!

In my friend Bridget's new Alignment Circle, I deepened my relationship to my root chakra. A visualization resulted in a visceral experience, a direct encounter that has changed my perception of the chakra forever. The experience was so rich I'm still processing. What an incredible way to begin the week.

Got some awesome excitement & feedback on this months choice for the Book to Film Club: Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. I can't wait to dive in (and I gotta get diving!)

Reg is having some serious challenges right now, on top of everything, and that damn walk he has to do in this cold weather has just been brutal. We got a snow all day here yesterday so I went to a lot of effort and even did some serious mis en place to make a truly "killer" mac and cheese for dinner. Considering all the cardio he has been doing because of the damn public transit strike, we both enjoyed small bowls of this comfort food with big salads and smoothies.

I'm currently reading Finding Your Way in a Wild New World: Reclaim Your True Nature to Create the Life You Want by Martha Beck and A Weekend to Change Your Life: Find Your Authentic Self After a Lifetime of Being All Things to All Peopleby Joan Anderson. Both of these books are recommendations from Sunny as preparation for a project we're dreaming up together. I know that Martha's Finding Your Own North Starwas instrumental in my journey (not to mention The Joy Diet! And I've just read the intro of the other and already feel I want to get Joan Anderson's memoirs!

Food shopping this weekend, trying to make and active effort to eat more healthy, or actually to get back to healthier eating. This feels like it's good start, although I do have to remember to eat it all!

Bobby Flay's Pumpkin Soup

Suzie

We got to have a rare day at home yesterday. I made pumpkin pancakes that Jamie would have found inedible! I didn't want to waste pumpkin soup that I made (which really was just pumpkin pie filling). They were surprisingly tasty but the texture? No matter how long and hard I cooked them, they tasted raw. Oh well, at least we had a Sunday together. That was a treat!

Rewind: March 4, 2012

Jamie

Mom asked me to scan some pictures from her wedding since she's planning to sell her dress. What a treat to look through the glamorous pages and see the young faces of our parents and so many family friends we've known all our lives. I wonder if I got my love of white flowers from Mom.

Oh that is too wild! I had no idea you were going to put Mom's wedding dress photo up when I chose this photo of you on your wedding day Jamie. Your big celebration is coming up so I thought the timing was fitting. I had no idea just how fitting! :) You and Mom were both stunning brides. Thank you for sharing that photo with me. It means so much.

As we were rolling up our mats after doing Yoga with Bob, Justin said, "Hey, grab your camera." Silly Jinx! She'd climbed right into the teak piece. At first all we saw was her tail sticking out. By the time I snapped this pic, she'd turned around. Jinx totally cracks me up!

Fortune Cookie Wisdom! Now, is this saying... start boldly or jump on a bold beginning already started? Hmm....

Suzie

No photo for yesterday. I slept a lot of the day, feeling really bad. I think missing a day of crafting screwed me up, can't let that happen again. Reg came home and wanted to do yoga. We love this routine and teacher. This class is over 40 minutes and all sitting down so I can wear my two pairs of socks so I don't get cold. We were both feeling much better after doing the class. I love this teacher and so do the ducks and geese. It is filmed in Victoria, BC, which I could tell as soon as it started. Homesickness aside, we will be doing this one again.

Yesterday when I was co-working with Tanya, she made kale chips. Delish! Of course, I immediately had to try them myself. Ripped up Kale, some olive oil, salt and pepper, a 350-degree oven for 10 minutes-ish and yum! (Lol, I can't believe I'm sneaking over into foodie territory!)

Only in Kensington Market could you find a bike that is ENTIRELY neon orange.
Of course, I had to stop and take a picture of it.

I had a bad day yesterday and my stomach pains have been getting worse. For some reason oats help so I made a tea and had a couple of my chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and then got to have a great conversation with Jason! Which cheered me up immensely. So glad we finally connected. We have been trying for a while.

Is it just me or can you tell just how cold it is here by this photo? I went out in −10C weather to get our instant brekkie and the store was out! I came home super grumpy but am doing a bit better today.

Jamie

I'm trying to work some daily reading into my schedule and yesterday opened up Expressive Photography, which got me going on trying to understand 'aperture'. My desk companions helped me play and I feel like I've made some progress on something that generally seems totally opaque to me. I'll be writing about the experience on my blog in a couple of weeks.

I can't believe it's already been a month since I first put up my accomplishment calender! It really got me motivated to keep on track and I always looked forward to seeing what I could add each night. There were some new categories that came up as the month went on and I might want to shake up the colour story of the tacks, but overall I found it really fun and kept me inspired. Although after counting up all the ye-haws, there weren't as many as I expected but it's great to have something to gauge next month against. And I will. :)

Not the most flattering photo of my pendants currently underway. I wasn't super inspired yesterday so I focused on just "finishing off" some pieces. I also came to the realization that my soldering iron sucks. I need to get one that works but don't want to spend the money. But if there is one thing in the world that is true, you have to have the right tools for the job. I just gotta do it.
