Jamie

On Saturday we drove into Belgium and had an amazing time in the city of Gent. Justin's dad took this picture of us taking pictures, LOL! I think we have several pics of this variety. This city was amazing. We went into a cathedral that was built in 1100! Imagine! Everywhere you looked was history - and also cafes and a spot to stop for a good Belgian beer!

Shannon

I took some time to do some art today! With the huge dahlias to enjoy, I couldn't resist drawing them. It was pretty challenging though, as there are so many petals and then choices on how to represent the different colours in pencil (if decide to try something at all). I drew it from the front, side and back (that's this one), and after which I really understand the shapes better. I don't think this one turned out terribly well, and the pic even less so, but I still did it and worked with the shapes. This one I took some liberties with the shading and just did something that would make it feel more defined than what I was actually seeing. Not sure how I feel about that choice. And next time, it might be interesting to try something less... full. Hehe.

Suzie

I have seen a couple signs in windows downtown for conformity which I find so weird. This one is Obey and the other one is the art of dressing normal or something like that. I am perplexed. Maybe Vancouver needs this non-conformist to say, what the hell?!

Jamie, the beauty continues! And I love this photo of you all taking photos of the history and gorgeousness around you. I know, makes Canada feel so young, a place that is so old.

Shannon, I think you did a great job and your process for how and why to draw it the way you did, fascinating. I think it looks amazing and yes, what a challenge!

That is such an awesome picgture Jamie, I'm sure Chriss has a collection of them. Pictures of picture taking! I guess it shows a definite good spot for pics, hehe. Belgium looks absolutely lovely, amazing to see the history. Canada feels so young in comparison.

I wonder what that sign is all about Suzie. Could it be promotion for something? I remember when District 9 came out, they had some really crazy ads that didn't make sense til you knew about the film.

Thanks so much Suzie, it's been quite an interesting process drawing things, even this flower which was starting to curl and not be at it's best of times but it was still interesting to draw. So much learning, and challenges!

Michelle said that it's an ironic fashion brand that is trying to help the unfortunate. I personally think it's stupid, LOL. Nothing with the word OBEY should be used for liberation but if you know what they are about you won't find them shocking. Talk about pretentious!

I am so glad you are drawing Shannon and yes, having the flower curl makes it all the more interesting to see, as well as draw. :) Well done!
