Jamie

We had a really low-key Thanksgiving, which was absolutely perfect. I did manage to bring in some flowers, have a shower before dinner and even put out a candle. These battery operated beauties are awesome!

Shannon

These are the selections of fabrics I picked up from the Fabric store adventure, and I am just so curious as to what I will turn them into. I love working with the material as the inspiration for whatever the piece will come into being.

Reg and I have had a very busy long weekend, especially with getting food now that we have a car again. You could have knocked me over when I saw these cereal boxes at our new Superstore. Now if only they had Boo Berry!!! So I didn't buy any but it was so good to stock up on food again, things were getting rough. Yay for food!

Random: October 12, 2014

Jamie

I thought I'd follow the Thanksgiving theme for this week's random. And not much feels more random than being reflected in a gravy boat! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Shannon

I totally didn't intend on taking this, but I know I took it but it was just one of those oopsies! ones. Therefore...Random.

Roses are still blooming here and I love that when I opened our front door there were rose petals on the porch. Yeah, I'm kind of in love with being here.

Jamie

It was a big day yesterday! Shannon and I found and braved a fabric store.  I even picked a pattern (the one you see here) and, with Shannon's help, some fabric. Though I have never, ever thought I would sew it still reminded me of how I always loved, loved, loved the piles of fabric that Mom would have. They were always inspiring to me. And pattern books - YUM! I'm looking forward to this crazy adventure.

I had the day to myself yesterday and have been waiting patiently to go to Maxim's Bakery. I used to go there all the time when we lived in Vancouver before for their Mexican Buns. I had been waiting until there was a day I could stop by and pick up some buns and enjoy them at home. I made it back just before the rain started. It was just as I remembered it. Sweet, soft with a beautiful crust on top. Wonderful.

A trip to the doctor's included a record time waiting. Luckily it also included quite a beautiful day. Looks like I'm still recovering and in need of rest - and a few blood tests.

Shannon

It was get to get out to journal this week, and all the more fun with my new sparkly journal. I even resisted lots of delectable treats and went with a (hopefully) healthier option on banana bread to quell my snackish cravings.

Suzie

I made it to my local library yesterday and got books! Imagine that. I am really interested in the history of Vancouver (weird, I know) and really wanted to read about it. Also, I have been eyeing that amigurumi book at amazon and now I can check it out at home. Oh and I found my crochet hooks!!! Crafts room is still a disaster but I could finally get to my closet which is where they were, safety stowed on the top shelf at the back.

Jamie

I'm struggling with getting my energy back but was still glad to get out and about for some errnads yesterday, especially because I got to see this little cutie! What a little darling, waiting (relatively) patiently for his loved ones to wrap up their shopping. It was a bit of a cold, grey day but this pup was a ray of sunshine.

Shannon

I was so happy to get some new stuff from Old Navy, and one of my new faves is this schmooly cocoon wintery top thingy. It is sooooo cozy. Never did I think I'd like something with a shawl collar, but I like this one so much I want to figure out how to knit something in this style. And I can't wait to wear it!

Suzie

Had a brutally long day at the car dealership and bought a car yesterday! OMG, the paperwork, the going back and forth to the bank, the issues with insurance because we moved from Nova Scotia… The easiest part of the day was the drive back to our apartment. A totally no-nonsense car with zero perks (manual windows and such) and hopefully will take care of us for a long, long time. Because I am not going through that again anytime soon!

Jamie

I'm glad I'm still going out into the garden so that I can keep an eye on my bulbs. Despite the rocks, the sticks and even the bunny, a squirrel has gotten one of them! The tally so far? Jamie: 24. Squirrel: 1. Let's hope I keep winning!

Shannon

So. The CBC retweeted me. WOOHOO!

Suzie

Reg noticed a fairy ring on our front lawn! With the crazy full moon and eclipse, the energy has been really weird lately but this made me happy. Maybe it was fairies who stole our gardening equipment?

Yesterday I went out for a couple of errands and so stopped by Value Village, as you do. I found a huge bag of markers and pencil crayons and stuff for $1.99 so just had to dive in! I tested them all and though I threw out the handful on the right, the rest were great, especially the little Crayola Pip Squeaks! I think I ended up with about 50 of them!

Shannon

This is the *only* picture on my camera for the day, so it was easy to pick which on to share! I think I need to figure out how to get pictures off my phone, because some days that's the way I take pics!

Suzie

Reg and I got bus day passes and went off to Port Moody. You can see why this was one of the neighbourhoods we REALLY wanted to live in, it's just gorgeous. It was like summer out, so hot. We actually went to go check out a car at a dealership but it wasn't there. It was two more burbs over so we took that as a bad sign, walked to the water and then went back home. I am amazed at how easy and fast it is to get around Vancouver on public transit.
