A new step in my drawing process - adding a bit of colour! I'm trying out some watercolour coloured pencils. It was amazing to see the same shapes I've been drawing since I was a teenager come out onto the page! I continue being delighted that I'm enjoying drawing.

Organization day! I keep working on organization stuff, but I have a feeling that's not the way to go atm. Although I was happy with some of the things I came up with, it just didn't feel great. Very strange for me to feel this way, but it's the truth!

Suzie

Reg had a gaming day so I actually had a whole day to do whatever I wanted! I did a little shopping, all the laundry and made a chocolate sauce which ended up in a mocha sorbet. Yum! And I also did a video trying to clean my copper pots. I miss having days like this and can't wait to have them again.

Fun foam!! Shannon brought home some treats for us to play with on art day! It was fun right away as she divided it into Shannon palette and Jamie palette. It's amazing how easy to tell which is which!

Dinner prep for "Peppers 2 Ways", which was chili and salad. And wow, I must have picked the hottest jalepino at the store, as my hand felt it for a few hours afterwards!

Suzie

Yesterday was all-house-day, including having work done with light fixtures. Bye by broken basement fan and hello light! Just a few more things done to check off our list.

What a joy! Saturday I spent the entire day at a painting workshop with Shaun McNiff, one of the founders of the discipline of Expressive Arts Therapy. The central theme of the workshop was that painting is a movement practice. No wonder I loved it! I left feeling inspired on so many levels and completely, utterly spent.

Art Day! I deviated from the assignment in medium, but tried to keep the spirit of the work. Big thank you to Jamie for saying that it looked done, because...I totally would have kept going but it feels very done right here.

Suzie

Reg and I actually had a social life this weekend, including going to a wedding reception downtown. It was good to get a break from the house.

Random Pic: May 4, 2014

Jamie

A random star found in the streets. You never know what you might see when you keep your eyes open. A camera helps, hehe.

Shannon

It's amazing when you have pictures that you can't even distinguish what the heck they are. I'm glad I name things in batches, which is how I know this is a random pic from taking pics of the TV. I often have a bunch of blurry ones, and this one I totally love how it looks.

Suzie

In honour of May the Fourth Be With You day, here is the geekiest pic I have of me hanging out with Captain America. I never thought I would grow to love his character but I truly adore him and his story. Reg and I went to see it opening weekend which paid off considering what happened on SHIELD the following Tuesday. Geeky and random. What fun!

Yesterday I went out to get my haircut and then took myself out for coffee and a bit of a creative walkabout. I stopped in my tracks when I saw this series of paintings being prepped at the Bata Shoe Museum. About a decade ago, I became obsessed with creating exactly these kinds of works. Shannon has one of my pieces and I did a ton of them in a sketchbook. They were really fun explorations for me and when I saw these pieces I felt this deep sense of affirmation of my creative self. It reminded me to trust my creative instincts completely.

I decided to give my dollar-store fish calender a makeover, and made my own image for May. Happy May!

Suzie

So glad that despite a turn in the weather, Reg and I walked down to the new frozen yogurt shop for their big opening. It was awesome and Jamie, we got strawberry and pineapple like we got at that place we used to go to in the Eaton Centre. I think a little sweet outing like this is something we really needed.

Yesterday was our dating anniversary! I still can't believe that we've been together so long. We are going to Quebec City in a while to celebrate so it was a bit of a low-key day withe the incredible exception of receiving our song! The beautiful, talented Alma Sipila has an extraordinary gift and an extraordinary offering - creating your personalized love song! She interviewed Justin and I and then set about telling our story through her gifts. Yesterday, we received the first draft of the song and I was in tears from the moment it began. She is really telling our unique story. The song even has Bascha in it! When we get the final version, I'll be sure to share. The pic is her badge. What she's doing is magical.

I'm having a very TV-centric week! The biggie this time was the Season 2 finale of Vikings, and I'm so sad that the season is already over. It was a good finale, and I will miss it until it comes back again next year. 10 eps is so too few. Ah, well.

Another batch of donations off to the thrift store. I gave up on some of my cake-making supplies. Cake domes take up a ton of space and I really hate making layered cakes so bye bye! It wasn't easy though. There is a part of me that wants me to like doing that sort of thing and the supplies are expensive. But I realized, I don't want to make them. It's nice not to feel pressured to do it anymore.

I've been wanting to read this book for years. I felt a bit complicated about it though because one year I put it on my Christmas list and Mom generously just gave me hers. The problem was that I couldn't really read her copy. So I felt kind of stuck for ages but this week I decided to just buy myself a copy and get to it! I think this kind of painting is coming into my life right now and I'm getting ready for it.

Deadliest Catch started back up this week with it's 10th season. It's wild that some of the folks have been on the show for all 10 years. And I watched all of those 10 seasons over in just the past couple of years, and it's kind of weird to see 10 years of peoples lives in this way. I am really rooting for a lot of the people on the show to have great seasons and also to learn and prosper. Here's hoping!
