I was in Lunenburg yesterday with our dear friends Mark and Colleen who are visiting from Ottawa. I was spoiled with their awesome company all day and we even got to check out the Bluenose restoration. Look Jamie, she is almost ready for the water! And we didn't need hard hats to go check her out.

Though we had some energy lulls, Shannon and I have had a wonderful first day in Portland. We've had some great meals, including, thankfully, some salads (kale ftw!) We stumbled along a fabulous street art fair, heard some public blues performances and even had our cards read. A memorable time already and the conference hasn't even started!

Oddly this is not the picture I picked to pick but when working from afar sometimes you go with the one who shows up, and this working duck wanted to be seen! Go duck!

Suzie

Yes, my life is so exciting. Here I am showing off my freshly cleaned teeth from my dentist's appointment! One cool thing is my dentist thought my food blogging was fascinating. I realized that is one of the first times that has ever happened to me. Normally people just think it's either weird or pathetic. I stopped by the thrift store with my new "brand" in mind and actually found a ton of stuff. More on that to come!

And we're off!! It took quite a while. Our plane was delayed by 3 hours. Still, we kept our spirits up and it turned out there was an added bonus because of the delay - descending into Portland amidst an amazing array of Fourth of July fireworks!

Yesterday I picked up a whole bunch of books on personal branding from the library and House Season 1 since summer TV is the pits right now. Can't wait for BB.

The books are awesome and already helpful but I found them overwhelming. Gotta find time to sit with them, get out a notebook and write my answers down.

Last year when we went to WDS one of the smartest things I did for myself was to take time to get my nails done before I left. I thought I didn't have the time for that hour to myself but my gosh, not only did it give me time to breathe, time for some real "chair and stare" time, but also it helped me feel polished for the whole trip. Well worth the investment of both time and money. Mani-pedis are something I'm inviting into my life, more and more.

Today I officially announced that I'm taking a break over at Movie Moxie, or as I like to say "Gone Fishing!" I wonder what I'll fish up.

Yesterday was all about catching up and getting stuff done, buying bus tickets... I realized I am more determined than ever to do product reviews of Black Label products. I find them fascinating so I took a photo of them while I was out shopping.

Time for a haircut! It's crazy but I find when my hair is short I'm more likely to need a cut sooner and less likely to think I do! With WDS on the horizon, it seemed like a good time to snip-snip. The funny thing was that as busy as it was Sunday for Canada, it was that quiet this holiday Monday.

Not my glam-e-ist shot but one of the few I took today, so ... here it is! It was in prep of taking a vlog, I always take a shot to see it the backgrounds aligned.

We had the craziest weather yesterday! Three thunderstorms and this was the last one, which started with hail. I grabbed my camera from the kitchen right away to shoot it. I apologize for Reg's swearing. Hopefully the car is OK. This place is insane!

What an absolutely crazy day to go downtown to pick up a few things I needed for the World Domination Summit. It was Canada Day and the Gay Pride Parade - not to mention the Jazz Festival! (There's always something going on in Toronto!) The absolutely beautiful thing was that in the midst of all those crowds were so many smiling people. Even on the crowded subway, people were in good spirits, friendly and talking to one another. It was a lovely day.

I think this week's weekend watching might appear a little bit similar to last weeks, with more Bond and second try at Mirror Mirror (first try didn't work as DVD was warped). It was kinda nice to only have a few things to get through and to keep the weekend low key.
