I know today's not a Rewind but this is my suitcase from when I went to the Kripalu Center to assist Jennifer Louden - the very beginning of my more confident traveller adventure! Hopefully today, I'm home safe and sound and ready to share amazing stories and pictures of our journeys in France!

Weekend Watching: I started my epic BONDATHON this weekend with Dr. No - I'm watching all the Bond films in anticaption of Skyfall this November. Also watched Beautiful Wave & Underworld Awakening for review. I love how all of them have a lot of blue on the covers, and likely lots of water. Fun times.

I searched everywhere for this pen and had friends take me to a store downtown just so I could buy it. Turns out, it isn't food safe! Ugh... I still decorated a teacup saucer with it but it looks like my dream of making my own dishes is just never going to happen. I can still decorate some and use them for my foodie photos, as long as the food doesn't touch the drawing. Argh!!!

Rewind: May 6, 2012

Jamie

This is one of my very favs! I miss the auction and still can't believe that we went for decades! We'll have to find a new and fabulous tradition.

Here is a photo of me and Shannon shopping at Goodwill. I am so glad I have photos of this ritual of ours at Pay-For-The-Pound. Shannon, you look awesome!

As I have been creating videos for my blogs and starting vlogging, it has been hard seeing myself with a slight double chin that has always plagued me and seeing myself start to age.

But then I look at this photograph where I was the thinnest I have been as an adult woman thanks to the Candida diet and it helps me make peace with who I am now. I feel much better being curvy and cute. I love Goth but do not want my face to look like Skeletor.

Making peace with who you are now and the flaws you come with is one of the best things about getting older. It is also one of the hardest. But I'm getting over it.

I've lived in Toronto forever and seen Queen's Park a zillion times but always walked around it, not on the actual land. One night Justin and I decided to do just that and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. My breath was taken away by the sight of these blooming trees. I have dreamed of seeing trees just like this blooming in Japan. Imagine my amazement when I read the plaque and discovered they were, in fact, a gift from Japan. It's amazing what you see when you change your route!

Mail call Mail call! I loooooooooooooooooove getting stuff in the mail - especially movies, so it was awesome for these to grace my presence for review :)

Thrift Store Treasures
I just love this photo, had to share it too!

I made another shopping trip and vlog update and I am learning how to hack my video program (which is very out of date) to add photographs with voice overlay. Thanks to Jamie I tried adding annotations in YouTube which is awesome! Too bad you can only add video links but that it still very cool. As you can see by how I am dressed, it is still bloody cold here. Only 7C when I went out on my little shopping trip. Guess we are just skipping spring this year.

The reference library is doing some reconstruction and I love, love, love, that outside on the protective plywood they have these beautiful word murals, rich with Canadian poetry as well as quotes from science and literature. I spent quite a time gazing at the walls. People surely thought I was mad.

Shannon

Ah, keyboard cleaning. Something I do not often enough by the amount of crap I had to clean from it! It feels a lot better to have it nice and clean - it's just one of those things that when you are superbusy it rarely gets done.

My confidence working with resin is growing. I completely encased a Thai chili in resin for making a pendant. I have been wanting to do this forever! Work with organic material and turn it into a pendant. I don't know why. Perhaps because it is so challenging. I took one step closer yesterday on Crafty Friday.

I love these markers. They have a lovely paintbrush tip on one end and a finer tip at the other. They've been discontinued but a while back Auntie Laima bought me two packs! I treasure them. I find myself always, always drawn to the same side of the colour wheel, hehe. It's amazing to see our own preferences.

Shannon

I love, love, love getting stuff in the mail for review - and nothing says AWESOME like Kate Beckinsale in the Underworld series. Can't wait to dive into this one on the weekend for review next week.

Recording Hexed with Shannon yesterday via Skype again (yay!) was definitely the highlight of my day.

This little guy usually sits in my garden. As we make some changes, he's keeping me company inside - and doing a very good job of guarding the grocery list!

Yesterday was my first day after an 8-month contract of day jobbing, and wow, it felt very, very long. I was VERY happy to start off my first day afterwards out for coffee, writing my morning pages and planning, planning, planning. THAT feels like the right way to start the day.

Good news is the strawberry dye worked! And everything looks so pretty. :) Bad news? The hot strawberry liquid melted the wax, LOL. No batik strawberries I am afraid! I have never done hot clothing dyeing before, totally did not occur to me.

Still, totally reminds me of when we dyed grandma's clothing. I have such fond memories.

I think I will keep doing this with natural and cheap dyes. I got the strawberries on sale for $1! Next? Kool-Aid!

It's May 1st and that means it's time to dance. I didn't get a chance to make a new video this year but this one is still an invitation to dance along.

Shannon

Yesterday marked my last day of a contract gig I was doing and wow, if felt very long. Last week a sweet co-worker gave me this as a present and the awesome card.

Yup, I know it looks weird and it is! That is strawberry puree being poured into a black stocking, LOL. Making strawberry dye for my t-shirt is a long process because I have to break it into steps but I am hoping to get to dyeing the shirt today, if I have enough time. Fingers crossed!
